Regnum is very similar to CoN for PS2. It's one of the reasons i like regnum so much.
One thing that would make the game better is to stop the incessant changes. I love drahs idea about dungeons. |

Crafting. Same realm dueling. Clan/Guild wars, to name but a few.

My thoughts
What do other MMORPGs have that Regnum lacks? Not hard to find...
Dynamically generated quests, bigger world, crafting, commerce, politics, user made housing and cities, animation staff, a real background story, customization, diversity, originality... As much as I love Regnum, for me it fails as a MMORPG. It's an awesome game for big battles in team. And I don't really want it to become better as a MMORPG because look around, at all the awesome MMORPGs around.. and better ones coming. Regnum lacks the proper game system to become one (like real targeting, not only mobiles, spells are designed with realm in mind, etc). I have started Regnum because: (1) It runs GNU/Linux natively (2) It's free I keep playing because: (1) It runs GNU/Linux natively (2) I like it But as a former Ultima Online addict, I can say that there is a world between the two games. Honestly, UO 10 years ago was better than Regnum EVERYWHERE *but* it was also way harder and "rougher" ; if you wanted teamplay you had to have some discipline, whereas in Regnum it's imposed by the game system, which happens is a two-sided coin: yes it's good because it allows cool battles, but it's also bad because it removes freedom. The two games are very different specifically because of those limitations. Ultima Online was complete freedom, and I'd still be playing it if it weren't patched in 2000 (in a patch unaptly named Ultima Online: Renaissance) because of carebears constantly whining. I trust NDG favors this game to remain focused on fighting and I hope they will ignore carebears. Some steps like not showing the corpse names (while holding the shift key if needed, for example) are the ones that made a lot of people, including me, leave UO (actually it was the creation of a non-PvP zone, but when the system tempers with your game it's the first sign of deviation). NDG should focus on why people play the game: (1) finish the fighting system, fix bugs (2) polish the graphics and UI (3) get a better server/improve the server side lag (4) officially start supporting Ubuntu, SuSe and Fedora Core (as opposed to support "GNU/Linux" as a whole which is a pipe dream) (5) Advertise the game as hell for what it is: a free massive fighting game. What I hope NDG won't do: - create an English-speaking server (and if they do anyway, I'm afraid they'll refuse to transfer the chars of those who want to -- I'm not leveling chars again) - implement any safe zone in the WZ The problem is that NDG lacks employees; well I don't see how is it going to be better, they need money to get employees, and they need employees to make money. They need venture capitalists but they have to keep the control over the game; it's a tricky situation. I hope for the best and I'm not in a hurry anyway. The game as it is satisfies me. PS: I may sound harsh but I'm simply honest.

I agree with the crafting and such - but Clan Wars gets icky. I played UO for years and that is one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing

attract more people to fort wars and discourage hunting.
on the same time fix serverlag. and remove the lowlevel mobs around samal, that gonne be embarassing when people start to level there ... they are level 25 or something those were just some things out of my head. All in all this game i quite cool. I mean you can always improve a lot. There is no perfect game. And when you lean back and watch the game ... I think its awsome |
