To look for true inspiration from a real artist, look to Van Gough. He worked as a priest in a remote and poor village before he started painting. He was so appalled at the conditions that his 'flock' lived in that he gave his house to a poor family and himself lived in a barn. He gave his salary away to the local poor. Then he was sacked by the religious authorities for 'unseemly conduct' for a man of God. What has this got to do with what you say? Everything! You call the authors of those songs 'artists' and defend their motives? HA! Ozzy Osbourne protesting against the 'mighty dollar'!!! He doesn't seem too repulsed by the dollar to me. Dumner is abolutely right. These 'artists' you talk of tap into the concerns of humanity, make themselves the voice of these concerns, and make millions for their 'efforts'. There is a world of difference in saying you are concerned about something, and actually living in such a way that you make a difference. I'm not saying that what they preach isn't true. I'm just not convinced that these people are apt to preach... |
