I rarely ragequit but if I do it's not because of the game in itself but more because of the people/zerg (Syrtis)...
Sometimes some people pisses me off (eg : zerging trelleborg or empty forts every possible time, listening to noob generals, doing stupid actions, waiting for bosses instead of cleaning our WZ, 15+ people afking at cs, etc...) but it justs get me more angry against them, but instead of ragequitting, I just reskill as warju for some days/weeks, and occasionally when there's no decent fort wars, I turn off realm chat tab and go hunt alone in Ignis WZ. And if there's a decent fort war (eg: not trelleborg), I come with my warju setup and just target enemies without caring of my allies, and this much more fun for me than trying to support a brainless zerg. I think that if I couldn't do this I'd ragequit almost everyday, but I think I really ragequitted maybe 5 times since I'm playing ? I'm not as old player than most here, so I'm still very indulgent to NGD because they are a very small team, that developing a game using its own 3D engine working both on Linux/Windows with so few people and listening to all the persons in a quite big community must be really a very very hard work even if sometimes I don't understand some NGD priorities and decisions, I think they are doing their possible, and that they are really kind enough to let this game free to play, and that they try to keep the balance beetween Xim/free users. Remember that this game is free, that they don't have the same ressources as the big MMORPG companies. So that's why I'm not ragequitting because of the game on itself, and anyways I'm only playing the mage class, probably the easiest one. I played barb for a while, leveled it to lvl 35 and just abandoned it because really it was too hard to grind/play compared to mages. But that's true... This game is getting boring. Same WZ, same people, same actions, same forts, it's almost like a routine now : 12h-18h : boredom, 18h-20h : Trelle farming, 20h-01h : Aggers/Samal farming, 01h-07h : Ignis farming Syrtis and trying to invade, well, there's no surprise anymore. Now the only really fun thing for me are bridge fights, open fields and solo hunting. The gameplay is getting worse each update, there's prehistorical bugs still not fixed, 50% of the spells are just useless crap, grinding is a pain, but I'm still hoping for NGD to fix this... but maybe one day I will start to ragequit because of the crappy gameplay... My 2 cents

I used to ragequit a lot, but nowadays I just log off because I have other things to do.
Things I've logged off over include, but are not limited to; - The farming at Samal. I usually log out after my 10th or so death. - Empty Meni gets taken, we take it back, go do something else, and Meni gets taken again within 2 minutes. Rinse and repeat. - When we are being zerged somewhere, Tenax respawns, and suddenly, a shit ton of people log on screaming, 'Tenax Time!'. Then he dies, they log off, and our fort is still in enemy hands. - DB logging on. - The Home Shopping Network (aka Realm Chat). - Invasions where no one listens, and attack the enemy gate like the Helen Keller Battalion. Thats all I can think of atm.

I voted 1-2, it is exactly my situation. I ragequit regularly when I lose to a warlock who resists meteor and terrors me, stuff like that.
Just now I was in a Herbred fight: I cast meteor on warlock I, he resists and casts sultar. I stand up, cast silence on warlock II, he resists and casts terror too. I ragequit \o/ Well it's not like I throw the keyboard away or anything, not rage like that, I just get pissed and do smth else and usually i whine a bit on irc

I don't ragequit, but I sometimes ragegrind, if I'm at a farm-fest, and it doesn't look like more of our guys will show up, or any of theirs will go away.

I don't rage quit. I rather enjoy grinding as I use it to take the edge off my day.
In war I tend to utter a one liner statement of distaste in iggy chat then continue as normal. This is rather rare though. Artec |

The only thing that frustrates me to the point of rage quitting is the rage quitting itself. Rage quitting is a wrong thing to do in so many levels. Not so much the zerging at samal or the broken marks game play or the phantom swings or the hunter menace (And Its been a long time since I did any serious grinding).
In case of a Syrtis zerg, I do get frustrated and log off if have something else to do. But if not i dont rage quit. I stand at the save watching out for some new improvements to the situation(zerg becoming too overconfident running out, zerg thinning out of boredom, more of ur own logging in). Ask people to avoid giving them a fight. Or go defend shaana. (which is useless because ofc the zerg doesnt want to invade, they just want to farm) Ragequitting doesnt help anyone. Rage quitting reduces your realm strength. Rage quitting just neutralizes the number of players that newly log on and keeps the number of your players stagnant, whereas the zerg keeps growing. In a sense, rage quitting is one of the reasons for the zerg to be successful. You sulk, some rage quit, some go to shaan, some go grind, some go camp pb, some go hunt in alsius. You are dividing your own army which is not a great tactic to deal with a zerg. Attack the root cause. If you are frustrated by the syrtis zerg here are some things to do, 1) Stand at save in solidarity with your realm. Encourage other players to stop rushing into the zerg. Deny the zerg a single undeserved RP. 2) Go defend your castle. More often than not, the zerg will get crushed at a lvl 4 moderately defended castle. 3) If that fails, go defend your gate. Mobilize all your forces defend your realm. You have even better chances of defending a gate rather than defending a castle or worse still, retaking a zerged fort. Most grinders would turn up for a gate defending. It has a sense of purpose rather than mindlessly rushing into the zerg. I dont mind fighitng against the odds. But I do mind fighting against the zerg when I know they dont want to invade. They are just there for rp farming. So if i dont try to get the fort back nothing is gonna happen. So people please dont rage quit but do something constructive. |

(yes...I actually photoshopped this awhile ago....) This mostly happens while on my barb as well. The amount of difference in fun and playability with other classes is astounding. The gaping whole in class (and realm) balance has been around ever since I started playing back in April of 2009. Every so often a tiny aspect of this imbalance is "addressed" with nerfs here or there, but the issue as a whole consistently gets pushed to the back-burner and still, as of yet has had any solid progress. I must admit, the new engine has seen a better improvement in positioning, however phantom swings are still REALLY annoying as well. Warriors are definitely the most frustrating to play, barbs being moreso than knights (though I believe functionally both sub-classes to be broken). Marksman, to a slightly lesser degree, need some tweaking to be made better (at least as far as grinding is concerned. Grinding a marksman is more mind-numbing and spirit-crushing than grinding a knight). Anyway, that's my $.02

nice thread,
i'm used to being massacred / ganked / killed in any strange way during grind and definitely usually i don't ragequit, also i dont like to grind in safe zone (i usually do it in wz, prefere so, probably cause i'm sadomaso seen the large number of hunters wandering in ignis wz searchin for easy rp) but the things that i totally avoid are: - being farmed, in any ways when i see a fort with inside a number 3 or > of the attacker i simply tell that is farming, and move away, hate the stupidity of it, it's meaningless and ,let me tell to farmers, it's skillLESS, so you are not good in play.. you just are good in numbers.. like ants.. - Farming, when i see that our force are farming (being an ignis in horus this case is rare but sometimes happen) i dislike it, saying it in general ("farming is boring") and usually many comrades agree and we move to another fight, usually ending our run in some strange death or fort fight again... it's nice that usually comrades agree that farming is boring, but sometime happen that for some of them farming is fun (!? are they syrtis in camoed dress??) so i simply go suicide myself at enemy spawn pillar... so i can move away.. - grinding for long time... usually this will totally shutdown my mind...

So true
I rarely ragequit because I love warring and I find it fun to fight against others, even when I lose. I hate grinding, but if I get tired of it I do something else. The commentary on rc reminds me of a bad reality tv show sometimes, but I just find it so funny usually, so the people don't usually make me ragequit. I sometimes war for a half hour or more at one spot, but then it becomes a rp farm with no actual fight, just a zerg, so I start feeling bad for the other realm. Then I die on purpose, afk at cs or go hunting in the realm where there isn't a rp farm. Now if someone is farming my realm in one of our forts, I try to get them out and after a while, I afk at cs or go hunting. My daily RO life rarely changes... -Silent
