That what u call "dark style" is actually gotic architecture. Take a look to Gotam City (yeeeesss, Batman city) and you will find that kind of buildings.
You can search on google too the ancients churchs, like Saint Michelle in France (do me a favour, look it that is amazing). Statues like demons, angels or gargoyls (gargolas?) are ussuall on this style. So you paint a gotic style building on black and you got a very f*cking demonic evil building wich is perfect for Ignis. Bad english. Good screenshots...
