This is a simulated war game.

Within the accepted standards of the game, a player can be praised for good deeds, or otherwise criticized for bad deeds.

Beginners can be forgiven the latter because it is part of the learning process.

As experienced players, this is not so.

Inkster, you are a reasonable person - i think deep down you know that on that occasion you played less than admirably...

In the past i have heard you criticise enemy players for the same thing you did...

(I'd better name no names, as some of them were Ignis... )

Oh now! He escaped! How dishonourable! He should have died! Now I don't get my RP!

Why are you so obsessed with people fighting 'fair'. As far as I know escaping is a part of the war. We're not English gentlemen having a duel. And by the way, you would render a class almost completely useless if ethics would forbid escaping. It's a part of hunters to escape. What would you prefer, stay and get killed, which isn't that much fun for both sides, or try to escape, which can really be great fun for both sides. It gives a thrill running away for a much larger group or when you've found the secret hiding place of someone. You may find this dishonourable, I call it tactics.
(What's the lesson they've learned in WWI? No honourable fighting. It's useless, pointless and costs a lot of men and doesn't give you much back. There is no good or honour in wars. Wars are about making the other die for his country, not to do for your own country.)

This is what happens when someone jumps in with their 2 pennies' worth without reading the thread properly.

No one was talking about the ethics of hunters escaping.

The argument was about a group of players who ran away from a fort while their team mates were still fighting, and leaving them to die.

Are you arguing that this is tactics?

If so, i'm glad i'm not on your side...

The only time I would do that is if I argued passionately that it was a losing cause and to pull back. Even then, I'd shoot from range as long as I could vs. abandoning them. I'd probably die as a result, but sometimes retreat is the best tactic. I hate donating rps to the enemy.

ljwolfe We did argue it was a lost cause, we stood at fort in order to defend it, then after our argument pulled back and teleported, and had a jolly damn fine hunt lasting for over 3 hours

Pip, pip!

I picked the wrong hunter thread...
But I can't find the other back, since there are so many of them.
