I don't think the problem has anything to do with connectivity at all. I think it has to do with the direct x files that Regnum downloads. The reason I say this is because of some different problems related to direct x that cropped up after I installed it. I went to a restore point before Regnum updated direct x and the other problems went away. I guess my next question would be... is there anyway to install Regnum and have it NOT install different direct x files?

I would think it might be safe to say then if you feel this is the issue, to redownload the installer, and install the most recent version of DirectX, plus get the most recent version of drivers for your video card. I was paying closer attention to where you see this "Connecting...Checking Firewall" and it appears before the client plays the NGD video. Sounds like you may have found your issue then, might be related to DirectX.

Yeah, all that stuff is up to date. Drivers and DirectX. What I think is happening is that Regnum is installing an older version of DirectX on top of my newer one and corrupting it. That is why I would rather have it not install the Direct X at all and just use what is on my system. But apparently they don't have any option to bypass this on the install....

I think the installer should have the capability to check versions and not install an older one on top of a newer one.

Are you sure its an older version? I don't remember but I think it installed the online installer which just checks for newer versions and updates, if you have a current version it doesn't do anything. However, on the other hand, if we want to be sure its DirectX related or installer trying to install bad DX , then switch to OPENGL in the client launcher (option menu after you login on the top left)

Ok... I "assumed" RO was installing an older version, because I know I already had the updated Dx on my system. I tried that OPEN GL option too and had the same result...connecting... checking firewall...

I dunno. It's surely a puzzlement.

switching to openGL means its not DX related then. I still think its your connection then. please post full detailed information about your network adapter and router in this format:

It very well may be that you have a router built into your modem and it also needs to be setup for port forwarding using the ports provided in the previous posts.

I don't have a router on here.

The Network Adapter (USB widget) calls itself a PANTECH USB Modem WWAN driver (in my control panel)

On it's face says it is a Qualcomm 3G CDMA UM150 VW

Does that help?

After you click login, try going into the options in the top left corner and uncheck the boxes enable sound and enable music. Had the same problem and now it works fine.

Great, it does, I just remembered you told me about your network connections. I can't think of anything else but reinstalling the game as you said another person was able to use your network adapter and get on the game just fine.

How'd it go? did you reinstall or have you resolved the issue by using the New Tech client?
