I played with 75 fov. For conju is vital to keep track of enemies and allies to be effective and react in time. I really do not agree with the dumbed down definition.

This was just needed to suit needs of all players after disabling the config file setting.

Again mouse wheel can return things easy to previous zoom level.

The difficulty in a game should NEVER come from dealing with its mechanics and controls. That’s just frustrating. When NGD decides to fix the hitboxes so that you don’t have to click 10 times to select a player, you’ll complain about it being too easy as well, I suppose?

main frustration with the game is mechanics and controls though. the inability to play with the keyboard (how do you target anything without a mouse? you cant). Custom video settings not working after last graphics update (although it did increase fps) is mechanics.

after the fov increase we learned that whining works, so let's whine more about the increased fov. it's too much!

Game mechanics and controls are not a thing I have problem with. In fact, increased fov value allows you to select your targets better. Video settings do not effect the gamepley (note, I'm not talking about fps).

Increased fov value is fine as it is now, I think most players do agree with that. The fact that such an uproar was caused by the update nerfing it is a proof that there were many players editing the config file value (note, this is not hacking).

Again, If you don't like the zoom, just don't zoom out. Players who do like increased zoom will do. Everyone's best off with what they like.

video settings determine if I can see water, terrain view distance, and other stuff that has a huge effect on gameplay. As for the old editing the config file: it may be hacking, but it's not cheating.

you're still missing the point on the field of view though. a larger field of view decreases the need to keep track of what's going on outside your field of view, so it makes the game more like a RTS with a godlike perspective where you can see everything that's going on around you. It decreases the need to use your brain for that, hence 'dumbed down combat'. At least it still doesnt show enemies and allies (except group members) in the minimap, but that'll probably be the next step.

I don't see if it makes much importance in seeing water or not. Terrain view distance does not show enemies from further away... what other graphics settings effect gameplay? The only gameplay setting that does give an advantage is weapon trails - showing you where you're attacked from and how much.

I don't consider skill in game by memorizing where enemy is, but rather by choice of spells, timing and correct and swift decisions reflecting the present situation. Regardless if you see or not what's going out of your view field, sometimes it's just too late to do anything, other times it just means you have to turn around more (mouse control skills, that shouldn't be an important part of gameplay imho, as it's too hardware dependant).

Can we please get someone to make 5 threads, a poll and a video compaining about this so we can get it fixed. I die way too much because I'm unable to select the enemy attacking me.

Yep, but I shouldn't happen

Anyway, we're going to look it up and try to reproduce it locally.

Hi!

Custom settings are not "selectable". That's because there isn't one unique Custom setting that can be created.

The Custom setting on the Video Quality slider shows up everytime you customize any preset option by modifying anything on the Advanced options menu!

Still can't access the normal anti-aliasing slider and FXAA still has the effect of appearing as if I'm drunk - the added fov merely compounds the problem.

Also, the issue regarding certain players not being able to utilize the texture quality slider, despite being able - in certain cases - to put everything else on ultra has not been fixed.
Hey there!

Can you post screenshots of the FXAA effect you seem to have?

On a sidenote, the texture quality slider is preset according to the user's video card memory available. If with a nVidia gtx570 you're not being able to max out texture quality, then I guess there might be something wrong that we need to check out.

Regards!

We're glad that the fov change produced a general positive feedback on both communities. The fps drop some users had was expected, but we're confident on thinking that this was a good move to improve gameplay, specially for those playing in lower resolutions (800x600 and such).

Best,

I am getting terrible lag spikes and connection losses since yesterdays update which make going to war pointless.

The server and gameplay ping averages both escalate up to 2300 for around 5-10 seconds before they settle again unless I lose connection with the server which I am doing at least once every 10 minutes or so.

Evrything was running very smoothly until this upadate when my Inet ping was around 72, Server ping around 140 and Gameplay ping around 91.

I have tried both openGL and DirectX, I have also set my graphics settings much lower than they were before this update - I still lag and lose connection

My drivers are up to date.

I send crash reports when I get the option to but often I lose connection with the server and I have no option to send a report in on re-log.
