haven=haven you cant split up clans and friendgroups because a server isnt as big as RA I actually dont get why we're talking about this.. back in horus days that was when it was nessesary.. when total combined force playing was as big as the underdog is atm.. (and 75% of that came from 1 realm..)

It is too late for that now Linuxmage.
Literally the only thing holding this game together is the community. The game is nice but the ones that go to RA were there before and simply migrate back. Were I forced to go to Piranha or some other server and have to leave my European friends (which are by far the majority on my friend list) I would quit this game immediately. They are literally the only reason I am still here. The content is nowhere competitive enough compared to other titles for me to stay. What is left for players like me who have been everywhere, done everything? Only comrades. I'll say this. To me and with every expression that NGD gives, players will always feel like RA is NGD's favourite child and Horus/Haven/whatever is the outcast bastard child and its inhabitants , a pariah to be tolerated simply because we have cash. Because players pick up on this attitude subliminally, and have no regional or geographic sympathy or allegiance, servers like Haven will struggle. It is easy to blame players but why do other games that operate within the same space that contain inhabitants infinitely more retarded still mange to do well ? |

If realm dominance is more based on time-zone than population, how will splitting the server according to time zone help the game?
Do not make a permanent solution to a temporary problem. |

Any # of causes STARTED the decline, BUT I'm fairly sure of THE cause that accellerated & pretty much guaranteed 'decline of' became 'fall of'. Syrtis quit 'winning'. Not all (but ALOT of) Syrtis always played assuming they were the best in the game (simply due to numeric odds in their favor giving them that appearance & thus, this false assumption) & that's WHY they played.
When that 'bubble-of-delusion' increasingly got burst more & more often as the decline continued & the painful, UNignorable truth was revealed, it all became a self-reinforcing & self-destructive cycle for the entire realm. In other words, winning became less common, losing more common & as more players left to play other games, or other realms, or quit playing as much as a direct result, all these things became more & more common & avalanched... more & more on top of more left to play other games, or other realms, or quit playing as much. Some need their 'fix' to really feel like living. 'Winning' thru ego-reinforcing illusion was (& is) simply more important to them than loyalty to realm & reamies & this was ESPECIALLY true of many in Syrtis. ALOT of peeps will ONLY play WHEN they can 'win', WHAT they can 'win', WHERE they can 'win' & IF they can 'WIN' ... it's deluded, immature & sad, but true. |

Just as much as Syrtis' decline leads to further decline, Alsius' and Ignis' increasing success leads to further success... and when the situation was opposite, the demoralization of Alsius' and Ignis' was just as self-reinforcing as it is for Syrtis. In fact were I forced to say it was worse for one realm than others, it would probably be Alsius. |
