I'm on the fence at the moment. I see a lot of potential for this update to go either way.
On the positive side: 1. It could likely generate renewed interest in the game for old, inactive players. We'll probably see a much more active warzone with a lot more active game population (at least, at first--let's hope it can be maintained). 2. It will likely add enough new content and objectives to make RO refreshing to play, giving a deeper layer to the gameplay. On the Neutral Side: In a way, this will clean the slate for EVERYONE (gear-wise), which can be good or bad, depending on who you are in RO...unless NGD scales up the existing level 50 gear for level 60's. On the bad side: 1. This could greatly upset not only class balance, but realm balance as well, and it might take another year or so before it can be whittled back down to a relatively balanced MMO. Then again, they could get it right straight off the bat. 2. Many of the changes could (and likely will) alienate a lot of the active veteran players, who've spent lots of time and xim accruing their current gear and will feel as though all that effort was for naught. While in the greater scheme, these changes will likely give the game more diversity and variety, we might very well see a mass exodus of the old-guard. We'll see on Monday (and in the coming days we'll see more details of the Warmasters revealed). Maybe today's announcement was the most painful, and NGD announced this to let the sting of the revelation dull a bit in the shadow of much better coming news announcement. /me crosses fingers

Reasons why this is good:
1. This will bring balance between classes because with the new experience system now more PVP related classes can gain exp faster. Like the knight. Everyone who grinds as a knight doesn't have very much fun. Now, it is easier for the knight to grind in what he excels at- PVP combat. It might not work out but I think it's a step towards fairer gameplay. 2. This will get boss campers and people spamming realm chat and lounging around to go do things in the warzone. Reasons why this is bad 1. Players who are not yet lvl fifty may find it harder to reach the max lvl. 2. Pretty soon, one realm will start having people who have grinded their butts off before anyone and will reach 60 before others do. Then they go out and kill their enemies to make sure the enemy realms pvp xp starts to stagnate. 3. This new lvl cap may change the guards to 60 too. If this happens. Even players at lvl 40+ won't be able to fight against them effectively. Just some of my opinion |

Yawn, I have zero assumptions , I am not calling a fire sale (as I see starting up in Horus) and I am not grinding any of my lvl 50 chars. I am just going about my business as normal until the whole picture becomes clear.
What I do find funny and relates to real world economics is this: Several people are moving to the economic "safe haven" , Magnanite stockpiles. Pretty much what happens in the real world with gold when fiat currency is under pressure. This is probably the only thing that might make sense at this point. I mean magnanite value will not drop , will it? Unless of course we get amber and quartz crafted weapons at lvl 60 . .. .. .. NGD is doing a great job, keeping a lot of folks twisting and wringing their hands. |

NGD said you'll be given xp boosters to compensate the lost xp past 50, as all xp is being reset to the new level 50, which is around 3.3m xp.

My biggest fear, I power leveled my conjurer to lv 50 before that balance update knowing that I would be the worst class to level after it, what am I supposed to do now? With pathetic offensive capabilties, no way to heal my summon (50% of my dmg) and supporting xp is horridly broken, how am I supposed to make my few million more xp?
