doesnt matter if i deselect it or not. i dont get past the char selection screen either way

Try downloading one of the resources you see failing using a browser

change the number to one of the numbers your having problems with

There is some software to view the md5 hash for the file, this is what has to be right for the resource to be accepted.

I asked other user with a similar issue to try this (apparently fixed his problem)

Open the file game.cfg, look for the line 'res_disk_retriever = sdb' and change 'sdb' to sqlite'. Then enter the game again. Then have some patience while it converts the resource database.
