CGI is pretty damn impressive too, as well as hollywood set builders. Some times its hard to discern reality from fiction unless you see it yourself. Im not outright denying it, im sure there are plenty of secret underground or remote located bases all over the place, but as to their purpose and what they hold, thats purely a matter of speculation.

CGI cannot stand infront of many people and physically touch them.
Or have we advanced this far with our holographic cold laser fusion technology? I don't think so. Alot of stuff has happened in my life and the lives of those close to me. So much so that I must say without a doubt, something is out there.

Making the bold assumption that aliens did contact humans in such a way it was friendly to us, and assuming that our historical events (like all the messianic prophesies and advents of previously mentioned subjects) were -and are- extremely relevant for their mission or equivalent matter here back in Earth, it may be possible that the image that some of our forerunners had mistakenly considered Angels or Demons could be an ingenious way the Aliens found to shape the lore and provide us with a control mechanism called 'supreme law', that is the basis of religion and resulted in our modern occidental law system. Moreover, if was to be a reason for such a contact I think this would be the best approach, mimicking human behaviour and taking advantage of some mind exploits (in which previous experience, lore and delusions may back up the encounter).

In other words, it is highly unlikely that Aliens were interested in history more than they would be in human behaviour. And if they did have a mission, it wouldn't be worth travelling billions of miles without getting any result, so why not to play with humans? But this would be childish, not to mention a complete failure over the scientific method, and hence they would have been an inconsistent, highly incoherent species, which found interstellar travel by chance. Tainting the population outside the test group is unwise, to say the least, so my first claim falls into a paradox. The last thing I can say to save my theory is that the aliens were AI computers, but even then they would have made a great mistake in letting them handle the experiment this way.

I have proven that either Aliens weren't the most intelligent species on the Galaxy (and even I would be able to outsmart them) or that Religion contains no trace of direct Alien intervention.

Q.E.D.
