a problem with the game...

Hi, i am a new player, and i got a problem with the game; take a look

A box? Did you try to re-log and get the same problem?

Try marking the "Update all new resources at once" on the Options menu before starting the game.
When you install the game, your computer have only the minimal data to start playing. And while you are playing the game downloads the other needed data. Sometimes, you need something that the game did not download yet.
Using "Update all new resources at once" you make sure that you have the full game before starting. The first time you do this, it takes about 5 or more minutes to enter the world, but you download everything to the computer.
The next time, the game will load faster and you will play more smoothly.

If you play at home, I think it would be better for you.

Oh, one more thing: update the drivers for your NVIDIA card! Old and crappy (proprietary) drivers are causing that bug with the white stripes.

I'm not quite sure what version of Ubuntu you are using, but if you plan to upgrade to Intrepid Ibex I think that will be enough, otherwise you will have to install more recent drivers manually or by using the envy-packages. But I recommend you to check with your LoCo or somewhere else if you don't know how to upgrade your drivers properly.
