Default Retaliation and Evasion

If you cast the Archer Trick spell Retaliation, but you happen to evade the next attack your opponent makes -- is the spell cancelled with zero damage returned?

Or is it only the next landed blow that is counted?

The spell returns all the dmg of the first attacks, which means if the first hit is evade, your ennemy evade the retaliation.

Hmm...retaliation doesn't seem so great anymore.

Do many Archers actually use this skill, and in what circumstances?

IMO best against warlocks. Unless they're SM.

I think this spell is a reward for those who avoid being evasion-junkies. If you have very high evade chance, this skill wont work at it's full.

If you evade or get hit by a non damage spell (ambush, feint, confuse, etc.) retaliation is lost.
MegriM said that even if Retaliation is cast on yourself, it is an offensive damage spell and every damage spell must have chance of evasion.

I agree, Retaliation is a very good spell, specially against predictable players. I think it is ok, because it is not easy to use but very effective when used right (as any good spell should be).

Ask compost, he uses it, afaik.
And I think this spell is deadly against barbs.

Yes, I use it from time-to-time depending on how I'm configured. Sometimes I'll drop my evasion way low and pick up retalliation. The spell is AWESEOM against non-staff mastery mages, knights and barbs. Also, you can time this spell perfectly when you see a marks using a slow bow. If you decide to use retalliation I'd suggest lvl 3 or 4.

BTW, there's been several south-cross monkeys kill themselves hitting me
