Default marksman questions

So I just started a few days ago and was between marks and barb, so I decided I'd get try both and see how I liked each. The results kind of shocked me. Marksman seems to have very little damage output especially from my normal attacks which seem to do less than 50 damage each whereas my barb does well over 100 and sometimes even in the 200's on normal attacks just in these lower levels. Bows seem to have slow-medium firing rates compared to the very slow spears I use but regardless they do 1/3 of the damage.

So basically my questions are:

1) How do marksman do in wz with damage output?

2) Do skills Marksman get later make up for this huge deficit in normal attacks or does the difference between the two start to decrease?

3) I've been using longbows, which logically (to me at least) would be the weapon of choice for a marksman. Are longbows the way to go or do shortbows edge them out? Or is it a preference thing?

Thanks in advance, I've always been a fan of the "marksman"-type character and hope that I can get this sorted out.

1) for now, marksmen can be really fine in wz. Damage is good, protection is good, range is good.

2) yes, marksman can be boring in the beginning, but for me it was more funny on higher lvls.

3) longbows are fine, especially if you use range buffs to increase distance btw mob and you (and buy yourself enough time to kill a mob before it reaches you). However, some like to grind with shortbows too, so its more dependable of preference and setup you are using for grind.

P.S. I m marx fan too :P

Don't forget to consider range. A marksman's weapon damage might be lower than a barb's, but a marksman can start shooting at a barb long before the barb can get close enough to hit. In fact, archers' ability to keep distance so that warriors can't hit back is so good that the next update will nerf it.

There's also much more to each class than how much damage they can deal, so don't focus too much on comparing only how hard they hit.

Unless you're speed-grind it with boosts and team support, they will have changed the gameplay so many times over before you have reach 50, it's not really meaningful to give any advice. Archery on the test server now, is fundamentally different than on the production servers. We will all be noobs when that is introduced.
