What insult means to you?
To increase discussion quality i'd like you to answer this simple question.
We can avoid many misunderstandings, share more important thoughts and make forum moderator's life easier if we knew how to avoid unintentional insults. |

well your a....
jk an insult to me is indescribable. but it is something that should be avoided. insults serve no purpose but to hurt the person it is aimed at and there is really no good reason for that. i am not saying that i have never insulted someone. we all have at one time or another. but im saying, we should try to address conflicts in a more mature and friendly way then becoming hostile at any little thing. |

I dont get offended easily. If I have done something wrong and get called stuff I wont get mad either. But if I just log on and someone starts screaming at me for more than 2 minutes and their not kidding then I will, over time, get offended =P

If I get offended I like to know why, to prevent my own mistakes. I usually don't really care what people think about me, but nice thoughts are appreciated
But insults on forum are kinda pointless (but still not nice, I assume). And I won't even talk about internet insults overall, that's a whole kind of religion I noticed that Gamemod closed my thread, I got information I needed, thanks to a very kind person. Now I know why and well, I can't prevent people getting mad at me, but I'd like to ask why. If offending other players via karma is against the rules, then maybe you should enable showing nick under karma points, Dear Mod :> Ps. awww guys <3 you didn't have to

i´ve been insulted via karma, a signed karma, and after i sent my complain to the abuse mail, a response from NGD came, telling me that the person who send the carma, sign it with another person´s name. they made a nice and fast job.

An insult is not a certain phrase, it is the intention behind an uttered word.

For the dictionary I've got in my head: A word or phrase, or any sign that couses other people to be angry or sad. In any way.
For me: Nothing relevant. Sometimes, my way of showing my love (?) Still, there hadn't been any insult that any person made that have ever affected me in a considerably way! There's people that cry if you say them "stupid", while you can swear for 2 hours to others and they won't even care. Piz, I didn't got what you said about internet insults and religion.

We can increase discussion quality by giving other people the benefit of the doubt for the intent of their post. I agree with Zordak, an insult is less about the words and more about the intent of the post. You must accept that not everyone will share your definition of insult. We come from different countries, different backgrounds, different levels of English and unintentional insults are unavoidable. Instead it's you who must adjust to grow thicker skin, and not respond with intentional insult if there's a chance that the other guy didn't mean to offend you.

Insalt is the polar opposite of "Outpepper."
Ok seriously, To me I would say that insulting is a state of being insulent, rude, abhorent or impolite. also something that causes resentment or hurt by callous, rude behavior, or an act that offends a person's sense of pride or dignity
