Monthser is an unknown quantity at this point
Default "The fall of the Syrtis Empire"

It all started after the implementation of TDM. All of the sudden players started to dissapear in the middel of a battle leaving the other players alone. At a certain moment even when our gates were in danger you could see ppl chatting at CS queing for the next match as if nothing else mattered to them. This behaviour enraged the other players who play this game for the RvR concept. Some quit playing, others went to other realms, others went back to RA, etc. The result is a poor and pityful Syrtis constantly devastated because of the stupidity of some PvP addicts who didnt realize that the beauty of this game is the RvR concept. PvP games are lots but only few with such a unique RvR concept.

It was a matter of time and some people tried to stop it. Well some of my ex realmmates do not cared what will happen.

I hope syrtis get out of this and never do this mistakes again.

Although Syrtis may be the weakest it's been for a while, I think the realms are actually more balanced now than they have been for a long time. The pecking order is reversed, but the difference between top dog and bottom bitch is narrower than in the past. (in my not-so-humble opinion)

I would tend to argue, whether Syrtis was brought down by battlezones. Since I have only little knowledge of what happens in Syrtis, I can't say for sure, but I'd account the downfall of Syrtis to it's overpopulation at the time. Syrtis was so overpopulated, that even the combined forces of the two other realms couldn't stop them from invading, or recapping a fort.
The repetitive victories would just bore some players, and they would either change realm, or game. It happened before to other realms, and this up-and-down pattern was present in RO as long as I remember.
The battle zones are not used at the moment (at least I didn't hear about a single match for month now), and therefore they can't be holding players away any more. The focus of many players on battlezones, instead of on warzone, were expected, and were present in all three realms. For few weeks there was scarcely any action in warzone. This was negated, as players grew bored of the instances.
I would agree with Van on the crude balance between the three realms, that improved greatly after Steam players started to join. Now the main cause of unbalance are rather timezones, as some realms lack players during different times, rather than having drastically high population in compared to other times.

the exact same thing was happening there
i dunno about ignis.. but for alsius that wasnt any different from before
so i guess syrtis got goatified

And Van is right, top dog and underdog both have great numbers now
even tho the difference in numbers is still there its not like before
