Default Increase of ranged population?

Is it just me, or has there been a massive increase in ranged classes? I'm finding it difficult to get from fort to fort without getting ganked by a 7-8 group of archers. Yesterday, Syrtis managed to range the lvl 4 door at herb. Also, Alsius had 1 barb at Imperia and the rest were archers pew pewing everyone on the bridge.
This is making warrior a little less fun, and nothing good except for auras and door smashing. Now I'm not complaining, but I'm just wondering why the sudden influx of archers? I'm seeing new names pop up in the form of marksmen and hunters every day, but very little warriors. Shall we all just drop the warrior classes and create archers instead?

Archer is the most well-rounded, warrior has limited playstyle. warrior overall is alright tho

since horn is usable only with 5+ players (caster included) it's only natural to see such groups. additionally teammates should have similar speeds, so none get left behind. If you have 5 players in your group and 1 dies, you can't use horn, which in turn can lead to other deaths.

with this in mind, one should note that there are only 3 classes with similar speed: barb, marx and hunter (with marx being the slowest).
Barbs operate at a different range than archers (duh) and parties having a barb or two run the greater risk of losing the ability to use horn.
This is why you can often see all-archer groups.

Decent dmg, good range, fast movement, good overall survivability.

Max range 30 m. Everybody happy. So simple. But we have 40 +. Why?

Or damage reduction for long ranged attacks over 30 m.

Simply because barbs have very low defense and can't be played without conju.
Archers are more OP u have Evasive Tactics & Retaliation & Escapist & Low Profile & SoTW & Acrobatic...

archers have 100% riskless playstyle. weve got most of the syrtis players who tend to play in a very pussy way, makes it obvious why they play archer.
there is also an imbalance in terrain, a barb can only be useful around a fort or with alsius trees nearby, where as ignis, used to be known for a lock/barb/conj realm, usually has no objects around the field.
then you have syrtis who keep coming and surround to samal with 10 fucking archers, atleast 2 conjs and a couple knarbs who cover them, while as a ignis barb and mage i am completely helpless around the open field.
i still dont understand why alsius get the benefit from those trees, but ignis doesnt have any in their domain... its stupid to fight a archer..

I understand your frustration. My knight couldn't make it 30 meters to Samal in def stance because I was surrounded by marks. That's a lot of CCs, debuffs and ethereal arrows, with no place to hide

I often thought of this, but I didn't want to piss a lot of people off. Or perhaps if parabolic shot decreased their weapon damage bonus a little.
