On the list of things that this game needs, I don't think a name change is one of them.

There truly is something to be said for truth in advertising tho. With that in mind, I can clearly recall from when I first started here that people had coined new names for this game from very near its beginnings: Bugnum, Lagnum, Crashnum, Cheatnum, etc. ... but I say this: since the central emphasis is exactly there, & always has been, just call this game BARBNUMB ONLINE (B.O.)
"Just keep me rightly supported like proper sidekicks, buff me, heal me, dispel me, & give me mana, MOAR' mana! Give me my personal conj harem & stroke my ego hard, biatches! Set my enemies up to be cannon fodder, 'horn' me as I charge in under UM/DI. I cannot be stopped, I reach my opponents & they fall before my bladed uber-OP-ness. I'm the undisputed King-of-RvR". __\ /__ |

I personally feel repelled by the word champions, and don't know to which point it contributes to generate expectation in the mind of someone who never played before. Even I think it makes more difficult to remember the name.
But a new name changing would mean resources invested in branding, legal instruments, logos, advertising, which would not repay with profits. And would put the game in an even more fragile image to customers since it was named 3 times allready. Could be usefull for a short time to atract old players which don't remain playing for long and not much more. Maybe would be usefull to put the focus only in the word "Regnum" in future marketing efforts so it would be the best of both decisions: keeping the current name but bringing back the old name. Anyway NGD is now an experienced company and I think they know this much better than us. |

I think it's more important to rename the game to CoR finally. Half of the games texts still say Regnum Online (Launcher Tips, readme.txt, forum, etc.)

I prefer regnum online, but it sounds more generic than champions of regnum. The word online is very common in mmorpgs.

All joking aside, right out of the gate, NGD got the name right:
-REGNUM- It's short, sweet, to the point, & Latin (so what's not to like?). "Sometimes you gotta' go back to actually move forward. And I don't mean go back to reminisce or chase ghosts - I mean go back to see where you came from, where you been, how you got here. See where you're goin'. I know there are those who say that you can't go back. Yes, you can. You just have to look in the right place." (& have the eyes to see it). -Matthew McConaughey- Last edited by Lebeau; 04-29-2018 at 05:39 AM. |
