Default ATI Catalyst 7.12(v8.44) White Textures

With recent fglrx driver versions(needed since they fix memory leaks), I've been having massive texturing issues, namely many textures do not appear at all, as in the attached screenshot. Driver version is Catalyst 7.12, Debian Etch with kernel 2.6.20, ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 with 64MB VRAM.

I've enabled forced downloading of new resources, with no effect. Any other thoughts as far as things to try?

Comp will become famous soon enough

Had the exact same problem and was forced to revert back to fglrx drivers...

Couldn't find anything to fix my problem...

The biggest problem with distributions that are rolling update based is that these little issues can sneak in without proper QA on their side for how these new drivers affect video game play.

That's sort of what I was afraid of. IIRC 8.43 worked fine, and 8.42 certainly did.

Setting texture quality to high does indeed solve the problem, thank you so much!

Actually, although it is merely a a matter of semantics, AMD still refers to the Linux driver as FGLRX in any number of contexts. Additionally, the uniform driver core appears to be limited to the OpenGL subsystem, the X.org interface and video playback acceleration components appears to have carried over from the previous driver.

While it is not arguable that these drivers are still under heavy development, I hope you are not contending that the new codebase drivers are more incomplete then the old codebase drivers. I've had the dubious pleasure of using FGLRX on and off since 2005, and only having problems like this is rather joyous.

Some feedback from NGD on what happens when you change the texture quality would be helpful in terms of my reporting a bug to AMD.
