People who bag out special events

Please stop. It is annoying and painful. The whole reason events have been implemented was because the community asked for it. The players of Regnum said they should bring events into the game to keep players playing because a while ago regnum didn't have much to offer at the time (no offence NGD). So because NGD listened to the community they put in special events to keep players and make everyone happy. Now I'm seeing more and more less appreciation for it all. So please, be polite and accept the special events for fun and shutup about them. Thank you.

Good post, although i initially wasnt impressed with the xmas event, it turned out to be well worthwhile to me (had some great items).

I think a lot of people are not happy unless they have a chance to complain about something, human nature i guess.

Im looking forward to seeing what ngd come up with next for an event - something like chomp the Chilko, kill the Kailer, napalm the Niclam, poke the Ponter (...nevermind), Drop the Droid or spank the Surak perhaps ^^

Im sure what ever it is, it will be fun to do

I think for easter we should have Elmer Fudd in the game and go wabbit hunting

make it a leader that we need 6 or 7 lvl 30 to 40 peeps to kill with say a 100 maginite drop for each person that hits it---lol

I have no problem bagging on a special event that offers no real benefit to players. The X-mas event was the only one I have seen so far that had done so. Time spent that could have been put to bug fixing, game play issues, imbalances or quests broken by previous patches. Things that are long term that would help further the game rather than pleasing ppl short term. Plus some of these events do not take into consideration that these are international servers and display a mainly western Judeo-Christian view that not all players can connect with.

Not everyone likes the same stuff either so ppl will complain and they are free to do so. If you really don't like it then don't read the forum because as you have already seen ppl will post whatever. While I don't care for your intolerance to criticism I at least respect your right to say it.

ok let me deal with my reply to this in a certain order.

There has been if i remember correctly 3 events.

1. Aniversarry: This event not only gave the hat but a certain amount of Ximerin (something every player can use)
2. Halloween: This gave us 3 helmets and 1 warbanner if you did all 3
3. Xmas event yes another hat but also random premium items (which i had more than my fair share of)

Now, if you care to look at the changelog list you will find these events came at the same time as bugfixes, the events were put there as something different to do.

Now, the aniversarry is the equivelent to a birthday, Halloween is in no way a Judeo-Christian and xmas was origionally the winter solstice (around dec 21 is usually the shortest day of the year in the west).

Also regards to xmas trees, i had this argument with a door to door religious salesman. He stumped me with this quote:

Jeremiah 10:2-4: "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen,
and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed
at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree
out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and
with hammers, that it move not." (KJV).

so again not totally a Judeo-Christian event.

IF the next event is at easter for example

Modern-day Easter is derived from two ancient traditions: one Judeo-Christian and the other Pagan. Both Christians and Pagans have celebrated death and resurrection themes following the Spring Equinox for millennia. Most religious historians believe that many elements of the Christian observance of Easter were derived from earlier Pagan celebrations.

The equinox occurs each year on March 20, 21 or 22. Both Neopagans and Christians continue to celebrate religious rituals linked to the equinox in the present day. Wiccans and other Neopagans usually hold their celebrations on the day or eve of the equinox. Western Christians wait until the Sunday on or after the next full moon. The Eastern Orthodox churches follow a different calculation; their celebration is often many weeks after the date selected by the Western churches.

Making this event varied in the terms of belief also.

So to sum it up only halloween had items that were not of real use (apart for 1 warbanner)
All the events were quite fun to do (which was what they were designed to be)
none of the events were totally Judeo-Christian
bugfixes were put in place the same time as each event.

Yes people will complain about a free game with free content as complaining is also free. Thats human nature

Enjoying one self in the game while it develops seem to be a benefit to me. If you think materialism is the only benificial nature then why are you playing a free to play game that's practically in beta? As inkster has said, bug fixes came with each of the event updates so they do work to updates and fixing features in the game. What fun would a game be if they only invested long term? They would want players to stay so that have to make a balance between long and short term. Otherwise there will be no or very few players by the time the long term has paid off. If you had a brain you would know this as it isn't rocket science, simple common sense.

If you are offended by the events in this game leave. The developers have every right to put in what they want. There is no international laws saying they can't. They could put in Hanukkah and the Chinese new year. I wouldn't mind as it's just a game. A game that creates fun events for players to keep them entertained. Events was a community based idea so NGD put it in as respect to the community.
