community crisis

There seems to be somewhat of a crisis right now.

Many players are angry at NGD, and there are public disputes between NGD staff.

For the sake of the game and the community all parties need to cool down.

We all, players and staff, love this game. Of course there are flaws in it - NGD are not a multi-national company with a multi-million dollar budget - they do their best. Players should remember this and temper their criticism. On the flip side of this, NGD staff should take a more detached view of things when people come on here and flame.

I've never seen the community in such a bad state as this. It is worrying, and i hope it passes soon.

I don't things will ever be the same anymore.

Too much as been said, and people have shown their true colours.

I don't know what NGD are going to do, but it'll certainly take time and effort to recover from this.

I disagree with some of the changes but aren't pissed (yet)

I agree with you though, some people should cool down

but ngd should also listen a bit more to the community, specially the long timers as these guys has a big of the reason why the game still lives today and ngd must not forget this

there's a saying, "shit happens".

tbh i don't know of a game that managed to keep the same people together for so much time, specially in mmo market. fall-outs were bound to happen. you loose some and hopefully you get more then you lost. whoever left this game said that their main reason was ngd ruining it. more probably they just got bored after all these years and needed a good excuse.

edit: actually i do know of a game that kept it's old players and added ton of new ones, quake/doom franchise... but that's a cultural phenomenon

The players need to remember that NGD is made up of real people with real emotions, but NGD need to remember that we have those same sort of emotions.

NGD always say that they care for the game and take offense when we say things against it but don't seem to realize we care for RO and its future almost as much as they do - why else would we stay around through the ups and the downs for so long?

Well it all comes down to that we are all on the same team here, just play different roles. We both seem to really suck lately at listening to the 'other side' and communication is certainly not the same as it used to be back in the early days. They have less and less time to listen (it happens) as they have more and more to do with the same amount of people, and we feel like because of that lack maybe that they are forcing changes upon us and we dont like it (well that happens too), just the nature of the beast.

The game has gotten bigger, which is great, but im sure it also puts greater constraints on the devs as far as time.....and stress......go, so its never going to be just like it was in the early days. That doesnt mean that we dont have to play nice and listen to....and appreciate the desires of both 'sides'.

We want a game that isnt in a constant state of flux (minor changes, new features etc are nice and all, but giant changes with no warning or discussion that happen out of nowhere are disconcerting and frustrating to us).

You want a game that can make you some money (and you certainly deserve it, i buy xim as often as i can), and be sustainable in terms of both money and player base, and so do we (at least most of us do).

We both did stupid things, and it all finally came to a head yesterday, maybe its a good thing that we can all just take a step back, see what led up to the 'boiling point' and take steps to see that it doesnt happen again.

To NGD: We all know that you try your best under shit conditions to bring us a game that we all love to play, and we really do appreciate that. We know that you are short staffed and almost certainly under a state of more or less constant stress. Once this whole update is working 100% (Seems like most of the bugs are gone, or at least tolerable), take a goddamn break. You need it and you deserve it. Take a week of, drink some beer, go to the beach, forget about work for a while. Most of all, dont take things to personally here, we get just as passionate about this as you do i think, sometimes even more, and thats what makes this game special....its also what causes nastiness like yesterday.

Shit happens, lets just learn from it and be better for it.

ABOUT NGD INCOME :

simply rethink some of your premium , you have as you said very few people paying for the game (i'm one of them) but i simply don't see the interested of some premium , i'm very glad that NGD is trying to keep balance between paying/non paying players and you must keep it this way but i will not buy more lucky boxes now that i have some decent equipement , simply because the chances to have crappy items is too big let me explain :

a arc with +5 strong worth nothing while an arc with +1 dext worth a bit , now i have decent stuff i will not take a chance to have a +5 strong item, so no more boxes for me... but if as i said in others post all bonuses stick to the class while raising the bonuses is difficult (you have more chances to have a +1 than a +5) , i will rebuy some time to time ,

ABOUT KAILER :

Kailer you did well and i really hope that you bosses will kick back relax drink a beer and forget all that , i know that we (the community) are a pain in the ass but you are stuck with us so deal with it :P

PS : to chiko sometimes it is good to not stick to a decision , this story did enough don't make it worst tesi is a loved member of the community and we love hating kailer (and he hate hating us) , you want a martyr we give you Nightchill but give us back Tesi and Kailer !

While i'm 100% ok with the change on the server list... The english community had 1 year in order to learn some words of spanish would be an easy answer, but the problem has been how our criticism has been handled. As i said if it was Kailer there wouldn't be such polemic.

For my part, i don't like being treated as yankee since i'm not. Go to spanish forums and tell "argentinians are southern brazilians !" believe me they won't like it. I really felt offended, when you're a CEO you take care of the words you use. But i stayed calm, at least i think, it was hard.

As Matt said things will never be the same anymore. We heard what we heard and will assume the consequences.
