Updating Regnum Online map as a desktop

I was browsing around yesterday, and got an idea in my my head. I know that some people have the Doppler radar weather map continually updating on their desktops. What I was wondering about was whether or not we could do this same thing, but with the map from the Regnum Online website that is always updating. Would really like to know.

I would love this! Dont forget the SFX and the little message when forts are taken. What a great way to get even more sucked into RO.

This little script will check for changes in the warstatus and report them back to you

It is currently customized for KDE, using KDialog for popups - but you can easily change it to integrate with any other DE if you replace kdialog with similar notify-send functionallity

As for the warzone map updating on the desktop, if you use windows you could use Active Desktop to achieve this and if you're on Linux and KDE4 you can do it using the functionallity of plasma.

PS: You should change the IP in the file to: 91.123.197.144.
PS2: You must also change the URL if you wish to fetch the status from Horus.
PS3: If you use Ruby 1.9 you must also change .body.to_a( "\n" ) into .body.split( "\n" )

With some small modifications...

The only thing that really has to be changed is the way the message is presented to the user as this differs from Linux.

To tell the truth though, I have no clue how to control Windows' notification system from Ruby :/
