Nice post Surak.
Please do all your customers ( the players ) and NGD a big favour. Do test properly before a new update is implemented. At the moment the servers of both RA and HORUS are having big problems time after time.
Fixing 1 bug creates 2 to 3 new bugs. I don't think that was intended with any of the updates.
So please do test properly before implementing. Take you customers serious.

Note: most of the issues you mentioned were introduced by the new engine and the updates which were not tested very well.

Ever since the last 2 or 3 updates I've had almost no crashes. This I see is a good sign of stability within the new client.

On the flipside, I am still having severe graphical glitches regarding shadows, which is why I currently have mine turned off.

For what it's worth.

Something else worth mentioning, if you use firefox, it has recently become a real resource hog, if you check the amount of ram it uses alone, I think you will be in for a shock, so if you need to browse the web while playing Regnum, pick another browser

As an extension to Inkster's post, I'd like to add my own list of things to avoid when playing Regnum:
- Audio/video encoding software
- Compositing managers (including Windows Vista/7 Aero)
- Internet Explorer
- Firefox
- Flash/Javascript (DHTML) websites
- Other games
- Virtualization software (Vmware, etc.)

Most problems related to performance are caused by improperly taking care of your system, specifically what you run.

Kind regards.

I havent had FPS drops for a while, maybe crash once a week which is pretty good compared to the time's I used to crash.

Cpu 2Ghz dual core
ATI Radeon 5700 series HD.

Running fort wars on maximum graphics with around 200+ FPS.
It still drops once in a while when I log in, after loading all seems fine.

I can really recommend this video card, bought it for 160 euro back then.
Will be around 120 euro's by now I supose.

Some people are stuck with their budget, tell me what your going to spent.
Might know something for you.

Eeeh, isnt this something we all should be affraid of? I mean, if its always the same problem it's not a big deal. You know how to handle it. But if the server keeps crashing at random things isn't it time to monitor the server better? Till now you where able to solve all the problems. But what if there appears a new error and you have no clue what it is?

Why not plan a monthly server check or something? It brings the server down for a couple of hours a month but prolly the crashes will get less?

i have FPS drops when i'm on my horse or in battle.
It's annoying realy cause when i'm riding my horse it freezes (FPS pike) then teleports me to an older position and my char stops (this happens a lot and is extremely annoying).

I played in safe mode so idk what else i can do, normally both the computer and the internet should be able to handle RO even on full detail (cause i tested this comp on a different internet and the internet with a different computer.)

Any idea's?
