With 190.53 i can play relatively confortable with around 40-60 fps with my Nvidia 240GT. I tried several times newer drivers - usually FPS are bigger in not so crowded places. If you go in place with more than 5-10 players massive FPS drop occurs. In empty places latest driver runs at around 100+ FPS, at war i drop into around 5-10 FPS which is actually slideshow.

I do not know what causes this. All other games i played nave no problems when i switch drivers - FPS are same or better. Not to mention DirectX performance is times better than OpenGL for some reason.

Debian Lenny 5.0.4 32bit
Intel i3 530 4GB DDR3
Nvidia 240GT 512 DDR3 Driver 190.53
Shader Model 3 Middle Settings

I play on Shader model 3 because SM4 gets me to 20 FPS which is low. On SM3 middle settings with all shadows and terrain detail turned off i get good fps.

Something is really wrong i have clanmates who play on windows with worse hardware and they get 2-3 times better FPS with better detail and bigger Shader Model.

I basically noticed the same as the others in this thread - and play now in the same setup as Ieti to have at least a playable frame-rate.

(This post is just to add another affected user to the list and make authorities hear up)

I also experienced FPS loss. I just logged into Amun. I did not play for more than 3 months now but at central save (nobody is currently in view range) I have 50 FPS. It's totally enough.
But before I had something like 10 more.

Everything set to max, except for AA and anisotropic filter. 1024x768 windowed.

AMD Athlon II X3 435 @2,9Ghz
Nvidia GTS 250 (256.44)
4GB Ram
ArchLinux 64Bit

i don't even want to compare with windows d3d^^

Anistropic will slow down any game in any OS platform even MS Windows.
Actualy i use anistropic at 1x.
I made tons of test with NVidia drivers using one 3-th party benchmark for linux because reflect games performance and no need to log in game.
There are huge diference bewteen 173,175,180,187,257(precompiled versions of Nvidia driver /distributions.)
Those versions are not avaible for all dstributions(precompiled versions)
For example on NVidia 9500 GT:
-On Ubunto(debian's distributis) better performance had with 175 drivers, with 173 my vga card crash.
-On Mandriva(redhat's distributions)better performance had with 190 and not with 192,195 or 257.
(Noticed all this version of drivers are availble /version of distro...not all versions of distro have all version of vga drivers
Note:
-setting of video drivers from Nvidia control center will not improve performance...tested on lots of versions of drivers(can be one issue of linux vga drivers)...
Anyway not tested CUDA(cuda sher power of VGA'S CPU with PC's CPU).read more about CUDA on NVidia site.

Anyway seems RO run better on redhat's ditributions like on Ubuntu...Ubuntu run one 3-th party process(posible server) what slow down net connection(duno what was that process not searched...just saw how slow was net connection).

U can try to make tests this 3-th party bechmark for linux from this thread...http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum...ad.php?t=63908

Yes, and now read the sentence you've quoted. You might find a word called except.
And if you would have read the OP you would see that it *seems* just to occur with Regnum. And I would say the same. Wine did not slow down after the driver change.

Nope ..maybe only on anistropic...but in linux i gain more like 30 fps compared with window...i don't know why...(was same settings)
And my video card with anistropic i had troble under windows too in others games.
That why i told .

I thought you understood my sentence like I had anisotropic maxed too but this was not the case obviously.
Sorry for that

Just to concur - same performance issues here. The game is unplayable currently. 5fps with occasional drops to 1fps and super temporary spikes to 80fps.

I'm running Linux Mint:

Linux shogun 2.6.32-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 08:09:38 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Nvidia 195.36.24

And yes I've tried every type of video setting change.

The point is that is worked find until I updated my driver.

Not sure who's fault it is - I don't really care.

Game is unplayable and since I use this computer for work - I won't risk downgrading the nvidia drivers and burning immeasurable amounts of time.

Regnum is unfortunately only for chat currently...

I hope you guys can find a fix/solution soon.

Best Regards,
Rendor/Nosis

Drops down to 5 fps sounds odd. It rather sounds like the driver is not loaded correctly. Can you give more information about your hardware? And after your system launched check /var/log/Xorg.0.log. And post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please.
And why do you upgrade your driver but don't use the most recent one?
256.53 should be the lastest stable driver. At least for the Geforce 8XXX , 6XXX and GT(s/x) 200 series. But I think they nearly all have the same driver until it's not a very old card.

I have opened a similar thread in the spanish forums, I have the following hardware:

AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE
4gb DDR2
Nvidia GTX260

I noticed that in Windows 7 with Directx I get around 100 fps (SM4 and everything maxed) but with Opengl y get around 40fps (also in Windows).

In Linux (ubuntu 10.04) I get similar results compared to Windows with Opengl (in both I use the latest drivers).

One of the guys that replied to the thread told me to use this version of the nvidia drivers:

http://la.nvidia.com/object/linux_di...190.53_la.html

Haven't tried yet, I'll try those when I get home
