iI'm seeing the same problem on opensuse 13.1. I gave a different launcher and try but with the same results.
Has anyone sent a ticket?

I've sent already.
Try strace ./rolauncher inside RO folder and post last 10 rows here.

Re
I won't be able to play RO on OpenSuse until this problem is fixed, or if I can find an older version that is not effected. On that note, does anyone have a link to a working version?

However you can get it working manipulating your icon theme or try starting Regnum from an old fashioned windowmanager instead of using full desktop environments like Gnome or KDE. Once you entered the annoying activation code you can switch back to Gnome/KDE/whatever and start the game without any problems. |

What the hell.
Our code never opens theme files directly. It has to be something else. Which distros and gtk themes are affected? Please give me a list.

Man, this is why I stopped using Xfce for gaming. Normally games don't segfault, but they have some pretty weird reactions. Like Ravensword, your character looks up to the sky then the game freezes, but playing any game in Openbox works a treat! Just create shortcut game launchers and run them from dmenu (which I shortcut to alt+d).
Xfce truly sucks for gaming unfortunately.
