The wall should be as a measure to attack on distance and keep the army away from the fort. but like this, it just often does the opposite, making ppl totally stick to it. This just totally destroys the fun, independent of whether your realm is winning or not.

Maybe a bigger zone around the wall where both parties cannot attack each other will help (But then again there is the problem with short ranged attacks like spiritual blow. I don't know if making the zone bigger will make spells like spiritual blow be out of range).

P.S: I put this in general discussions because I hope that more ppl will read it this way. And I'd like to hear your fair opinion, not the kind of "I'm marksman I have fun like it is" - opinion. and the next time I see it in a very ridiculous form I will include a sreenshot
The area below a wall where ranged attackers cannot see/shoot is called a defilade. Which makes that a defiled position. These are military terms for an existing real life condition.

Any military engineer will tell you that the way to remove a defilade is to build your fort with inwardly curving walls (like helms deep, from Lord of the Rings), thereby removing the defilade zone.

Short of that, the best defense is to drop large rocks or dump boiling water/oil directly off the wall to hit the defiled attackers.

The existence of defiled positions in regnum is highly realistic, i wouldn't mess with it at all.

IF there are people at the balcony, then it's warlocks' job to make them move from there.

If warlocks used elements to 19, the combo terror, twister fireball is enough to kick everybody from the balcony :] But currently only a few warlocks have elements maxed, aka the elite

not true sathilda: get a good support conju with dome/ mana pylon and one knight with a barrier and it isn't that easy. The chance to dizzy/knock the conju through mind blank + dome + barrier is not very high. Archers have natural high evasion and good damage resistance. If you target the archer, the conjurer will only yawn. You won't even get close to the healing cooldown limit. I know from my own experience.
But this is not the topic I wanted to talk about. I just wanted to point out how ridiculous the gameplay of those fights are, with those armies sticking to the defilade (thank you Valorius for teaching a non-native English speaker some vocabulary ) and I hoped to see that even the most narrow minded would agree that something has to be done about this.

@ Mr. Runaway: If you READ my post you would see that I didn't want to mess with the defilade in any particular way but just wanted to make it impossible to shoot diagonally down when the attacking realm player is standing only 1 cm from the wall. And actually it really doesn't count if it is realistic or not, isn't it most important to have fun? Apart from that, I never see you in any fort fight. Would it be reasonable to say that your opinion doesn't count in this case?

You are highling mistaking Mr Runaway as you like to call him participate actively to war, and to fort wars.

And again Kathris warlocks can prevent people from staying at the balconny (Sultar's Terror, fireball, MoD, and I'm sure people will get off that balconny).

To finish even if warlocks can help, you are Right. We should keep defilade protection on the wall, and add small sentinel balconny on walls angles so to fire at people at the wall you need to be on that, and you'll be of course an easy target.

ok maybe the fact I don't see you so often is just because of Alsius not taking so many forts lately , apart from Aggersborg where greens don't go so often because they would suck . Maybe I'm wrong in this point, maybe you were fighting thousands of fort wars lately and I was just too blind to see because I just couldn't stand this slight arrogance in your post, trying to teach me a lesson about military engineering .

@ gph: I have some problems understanding the first and third point of your post. But anyway I have the feeling that nobody really understands the problem. And yes: warlocks can make a difference, if it doesn't all get evaded/resisted/blocked.
Anyway: I won't make such posts in future anymore. Just senseless
