Don't be too harsh on him, while there are some obvious issues (Taking long to download on Dial up) he stated some truth to the game, there is some information that should be more evident.

Not everyone wants to read a manual, go through the forums or talk to another guy to be able to just play? Ideally, the game should present itself in an intuitive manner.
Of course, MMOG games are really complex and the handling of information is a serious matter. You can't put it all at once and you have to be very careful about when and how you lay it out.

For instance, it would be a good idea to put tips on the loading screen (the one for the Zooming with the two mouse buttons as you said Puppypaws) or add more tips and maybe increase the font size? Or put an indicator on the health bar when is low.

And my final usual response, we are working on it

Regards

I know, I was proberly clueless as him once, but Its annoying to see someone "reveiw" a RvR game without even mentioning RvR, I mean even lvl 21s can go watch a fight??

Though it does again show the weakness in the games opening lvls, and Im glad this is something NGD is working on, But also worried that if the game gets to big

A, The current servers simply wont cope
B, It will ruin the nice "everyone knows everyone" atmosphear (that still exists on hours)

Also many complaints are not things wrong with the game, they are things he was simply to lazy/not-bothered-by-but-will-moan-anyway about to deal with (the power book not closeing for example)

(Should be a tooltip for dragging powers into the hotkey bar) Also the spell book is rather large how can you forget to close it??

Moaning about not useing numbers in names and no super saiyan hair, so is he going to moan that people dont run around with famous players names with the players IQ number at the end? Often 1. And that lvl 50 knights dont get 10ft thick black armour covered in spikes? Its not that kind of game you cant moan about the genre? Can you? 0o

EDIT from INQ forum
Mamys Super hair XDD

I really dislike how NGD takes the time to "salute" this member who bashed the game and didn't offer any useful feedback or suggestions, but they don't make any replies in the Suggestions sub-forum.

If you read the rules for the suggestions forum, you'll note that they read the suggestions but do not post responses there.

Hello,

As Froste said, we don't answer suggestions back and the short answer is that if we stopped to discuss everything, we would just be doing that instead of the actual game.

On the other hand, now that we do have a community manager, we have weekly reports that include community feedback as well as a compilation of suggestions for that week.

Please, stay on topic.

Regards

Guys, if I may point out, it's just as important to get reviews of first impressions of the game as it is to get reviews of the entirety of the gameplay.

If asked to give a review, I personally, and I think a large portion of the player base, would say something along these lines:
  • Awesome PVP combat whether single, grouped, or in full fort wars.
  • PVE exists entirely to get to the PVP section. Please ignore boredom.
  • Minor balance issues, but variety and strategy in skills mostly overcomes this
  • Oh yeah, it lags a bit sometimes.

This opinion only comes after you've levelled high enough to get into the warzone. Until then, your only impression of the game is the PVE -- Sure, you can read up on the importance of the warzone. You can hear from other players that it's going to get really good after level 30. But you don't get to experience it. What if people don't read up extensively on the game before playing it? Not everybody does that. If your first impression of the game is "kill 5 wolves", "kill 7 wasps", with next to no access to skills and no immediate explanation that you can even use skills, I think you can be forgiven for finding the flaws that we ignore a little more aggravating.

Anyway, my point is that it's absolutely unfair to rip into somebody for giving an honest, descriptive first impression of the problems with this game. You've been playing a long time, you had the patience to get past them yourself, you know what the game's about. So maybe you don't realise how challenging they can be for new players who don't have your patience.
Regnum should be gripping from level 1, not from level 30 :/ It's important that feedback like this gets through without ripping the user to shreds.

Review guy : I hope you come back in a year or so when they finally fix the initial impression thing.

Edit: Oh yeah, also, a lot of you are taking minor things that he said way too seriously. From my reading of the review, a lot of insignificant things had a passing mention made of them. Mentioning something doesn't mean one thinks it's the end of the world.

If your trying to reveiw a game the whole point is trying out every aspect of said game, (I assume he came here to reveiw it since he has a website) people dont reveiw console based games off the first 10 minuits of gameplay, they play it through to the end, or at least play long enough to see all the fetuares

This guy did not even mention the RVR or PVP aspects of the game and these are the game. without them its just sort of adverage pve.

NGD is working on first impressions and no doubt they can use his opinion to see were the early game falls down.

Finally got around to reading all the flames. I knew I'd get plenty! Anyway, I've gotten back into it lately and had plenty of the same problems, like load screens that last so long I have to force quit and just plain errors, some fatal and some stupid (the other day the graphics glitched miserably, sometimes not even drawing my surroundings - a restart worked wonders, though). I have found solutions to some of the lesser annoyances (like finally getting the spell book staying open checkbox to work), but there are still just too many... Since this is a free game that has some rather good moments I say its got potential. That review is months old as I warned you. Usually I play for about four to ten hours at least before submitting a review and its short (most of the time) for those with short attention spans. Right now the game is a lot like early Second Life. If the beginning wasn't so darn hard (and boring) though you might chase away fewer potential fans. But I will say there is something addicting about Regnum...

By the way: Thank you to those who have quested with me (most likely not anyone on this board). Fighting together is a lot of fun!

Maybe you should use your ten hours in a more productive way, than try to analyse a game.

Writing "reviews" is deffinitively not your stuff.
