Let me take this in a different direction
Let me take this in a different direction.
Reading this thread made me think about RP and its structure once again. It struck me that maybe I was looking at RP in the wrong way. Any discussion on RP requires looking at how it is distributed before anything else. Many of us look at it in the narrow band that NGD gave us. I looked at different threads on this matter and it occurred to me, why should the focus on getting RP be about killing members of opposing realms specifically? My take is this: RP should be rewarded on the heroics of members for their specific realm. I elaborate. 1. RP should be gained in the manner Gold is distributed for taking upgraded forts and castles. Fight to regain your lost fort gains you more RP depending on what level it is. Gaining opposing forts gains you RP as well. Same formula as above. 2. Invasions. RP is gained breaking the realm gate. Bonus RP for getting gems and another bonus for getting them home. These 2 bonuses only come after you get them safely home and they return to their pedestal or are put in the portal. Opening portals gains you RP as well. Remove Draconic gem option. Replace it with bonus RP for realm mates for 1 week. 3. This requires NGD to do something about the bridges. Make them so they can be captured. Maybe a flag in centre and a couple metal bar gates that can be broken easily and no guards. You get RP for taking bridges as well. 4. Epic War zone bosses. Yes RP for these too. Killing the inner realm epics and legendary should not get you RP but you could get a token that gives you a slight RP bonus for fort taking or invasions or such for the next 2 hours. 5. Yes, killing opponents still get you RPS. However, I feel this should be reduced to a maximum of maybe 6RPS per solo kill. Group hunts gain a slight bonus. I am sure someone could come up with a scale for this as I cannot. 6. Get repeatable quest where you have to accumulate a certain amount of +GRP XP. This can be calculated and expressed as a certain percentage of your XP required for a particular level. Completion of the quest gives RP and bonus XP. This should encourage group grinding. This is badly needed in the 'terrible 40's'. Also will not hurt booster sales. 7. Save campers get minus RPS still, caught glitchers get minus RPS plus the ban. Developing new war zone objectives and super bosses one by one can only enhance this experience and opportunities to gain RPS. Of course a server reset to zero RPS is required for this to avoid any unfair advantages. If a formula like this is implemented then maybe we could start talking about some use for RPS. Bottom line is that RP focus needs to be reduced from the singular effort and placed more on the group effort, it is supposed to be a RvR game after all. Regards Artec |
