The OpenAL distributed with Linuxes since about 2009 is really OpenAL Soft...

I have no problem with regnum and openal at Ubuntu Linux 11.04

it appears that the problem isn't with the distro itself but somewhere between jack audio kit and opelal |

Try this once...
Open your terminal. sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio Restart PC. Pulseaudio is BS with most games. To reinstall. sudo apt-get install pulseaudio Restart PC.
