My GPU is an nVidia, and I can plenty of other games smoothly. When I upgraded the OS I also downloaded the latest drivers too, so I don't think the GPU is the problem.
I would like to monitor the changes in the task manager, but even that is hard to do, because when I get these freezes, everything freezes. Normally RegnumOnline.exe uses around 330-360MB of memory when running, and the highest I saw it go before one of these freezes was 550MB, it might have gone over that, just that the task manager froze visually as well. The problem is most likely coming from resource processing and usage. Znurre suggested I delete all my resources, and select the option to download all new resources in the options menu next time I run the game. So far, I haven't had any more freezes. I'll get back and see if that was really the problem. Hopefully it won't come back <_< |

Does turning off sound and music completely help at all? A gigantic number of sounds get mixed together when a battle starts, particularly from spells from Sultar's terror, which can play up to 40-50 sounds at once (especially on RA). Normally there is a setting in the configuration file to limit this to 16 channels or something to help prevent freeze-lags from occuring as a side-effect. On top of this, all of that content has to be loaded from the disk, which is the slowest component in the system. Running RO from a ram disk might alieviate the problem some, however I am not aware if that is possible in Windows 7.

Still freezing. That wasn't the problem -_-
Happening totally random now. Lasting around 15 seconds, occurs even when running with a single person. So I doubt it has to do with lag from many players now. |

Try downgrading a few driver versions. I've recently found out that something is horribly wrong with the latest NVIDIA drivers. Apparently they cause major issues both in games and occasionally in Aero (the Windows user interface). People are downgrading all over the 'net, and waiting for the next release, so upgrading to the latest drivers as soon as you installed may have been the source of the problem.

Same here with fedora 14 64 and nvidia gtx 460 + 4 gigs i get random freezes every now and then. 15 to 20 seconds later comes back to normal as if i was diconnected for 2 secs then running smooth again, weirdly enough sometimes i still have my pointer on and reducing the window accelerates the returning to normal.

It's not a driver problem.
And I've just experienced it in another game, so now I know it isn't a Regnum related problem. Seems to be something with my system. |

I experiened this issue (i think), with Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu Maverick), 260.19.06 nvidia drivers, x86_64 platform with stock 2.6.35-24 kernel.
I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.36-020636 (manual way), so far issue is gone.
