If you pet the pet on defend ally, the pet belongs to the ally and yeilds all the spoils of battle to whomever is being defended.

You get xp from being damaged by monsters.
You get xp from damaging monsters.
You get xp from buffing players (only if their first attack after buff is a normal hit <not a skill> and does not miss the monster)

Pet does not gain xp period.
If a hunter uses pet alone to attack without doing damage him/herself that hunter gets 0 xp 0 items.

This makes the way pets are used a very complex feature as in they only give xp to the person involved in combat with them (involved = take or give damage to monster pet is fighting)
any questions?

Yes, can a player hit an impossible (solo) target once or less than 10% worth damage, use no spells ,let the paired pet/summon kill the target and gain full XP as if they did it alone?

If so then there is a conceptual issue there.

Agreeing with Bois.

The pet is nothing more than a tool or weapon of the hunter. No different than his bow or other skills. The pet should earn xp only for the hunter just as if the hunter attacked a mob with his bow, regardless of who the pet is defending; the hunter, or an ally.

It is power-leveling so it shouldn't be allowed ?

Well, before telling something stupid like that, better ask to NGD first why the experience isn't shared in equality in group like any all existing MMORPG ?

Ah yea, to prevent abuse of powerleveling of afk people ? Why not it's really not a bad argument after all.

However the fact to help an ally with high level pet, all the players should be active so so so ...

So it's fair and should stay allowed.

But if you're enjoying yourself (and especially raging/jealous skills for real IMO) more selfish mmorpg when not help no assist can be done, you can always go play another one.

If it's forbidden to help allies to lvl or something else, where we go .

It's obviously exploiting a bug if you're bypassing the 10% rule and getting more XP than the amount your damage would normally get you.

This.

If NGD wants to focus on group grinding as a way to level up, they need to implement a system where the owner of the summon/pet gets exp according to the damage the pet/summon does.

It was this way until a recent update. There was nothing in the change log about it, so it's most likely a bug.

Being able to kill a mob completely out of your range, suffer no health constraint and gain all the XP + any (+CHG) is ridiculous. The pet may not receive the XP credit but the player should not either. They did nothing to warrant reward.

I don't know the mechanic that is why I am asking but if what the others are saying is true then this is clearly a bug of some sort. I cannot see NGD offering such a facility that is potentially even more powerful than scrolls.

But surely all of this only helps low low level grinders with someone who wants to stand around donating their pets? It's not much use to high level grinders.

Not that I care I never use a pet and always grind alone - and that is not an innuendo.
