Nice to hear a word from you Wudy. And many thanks for sharing with us your problem and your way of dealing with it. Someone will sure find him(her)self in your posts, and it might help him (her) a lot.

I am glad you made an important progress in fighting with MMO addiction. Keep it that way, and whenever you feel urge to play, remember: "life >> game". Life is not part of the game.

Hi Makarios (wudy),

I admire your sincerity in your post. Game addiction is not something that everyone will admit. I have been playing for about 4 years this kind of games. First Runescape (about 1 year) and then RO. I have been playing a daily average of 10-12 hours... yep.
I quit RO a few weeks ago and I do not intend to come back. Luckily I have been borned with a really strong will so and I can overcome any addiction. This are not just words this is something I have noticed during my life. It is difficult at the beginning but then it gets easier. So I can say I am lucky.

The only thing you get from this virtual life are real life problems and before you realize years have passed by without you noticing it.

Wudy, I wish you all the luck in the world. Remember: real life is.... Real.

Great post Wudy,
i have been addicted as well.
Worst time was 5years ago, on dec 31th till jan 3rd.
There i played for 3,5days without sleep, barely drinks and food.
I screwed my school and work because of my game addiction.
I made deals with myself, if there is nothing left to do like:
-work
-homework(in that time)
-cleaning my house
-call or visit friends

Then i could go gaming.
From Sunday to Thursdays i stop on 0:00 am and friday and saturday at 01:00am

Maybe people who are addicted could give these things a try as well, it particly worked for me

Heya Wudy, your Orc has been missed!

Thanks for this post, it should be made a sticky imho. Personally I found out I don't have the patience to be addicted on MMOs, there are times however where I will play profusely, and others where I won't play at all.

Best wishes.

Thumbs up

Wudy I think I need to go back and delete my chars... I have uninstalled RO from my machine and even thought I had lost the password for my account...turns out I didn't and the temptation to reinstall is biting me.

I do play another MMO now and already play that daily... I really don't need my time any more consumed by MMO's.

Good luck and it was always a pleasure to see you at fort wars and on the hunt. I really hope you kick this and go on with your life.

Best Wishes

Hi Wudy,

This is Mehgan (and William Trelle and Zeddicus) from way back. Unlike your situation, I have not had trouble quitting Regnum when I wanted to, however when I did play, I tended to play way too much. I sacrificed much of my personal time playing Regnum when I could have been doing more productive and fulfilling things. I quit for good a couple years ago, and it wasn't hard, though that was due to a large extent on some major changed in the game that, for me, made it not fun anymore.

Since quitting, earned a black belt in Taekwondo (I studied it in college for three years, when I was younger, then quit). I also studied Aikido for about 18 months, though I had to quit because of knee problems that that style aggravated, and replaced it with jogging. I have had a lot more time with my family and being social since quitting.

When I quit, I did not delete my characters. It seemed such a waste of four level 50's to throw it all away, so I gave the account to a friend (that is why you might still see Mehgan in Alsius sometimes). If someone is considering quitting but doesn't want to waste your characters, you might give your account to a friend, and have them change the password so you cannot get back in again.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in combating your addiction and re-joining real life. Take care!

hi, i wrote www.regnumonline.com.ar but it seems to have redirected me to the AA group meetings.

btw, I used to play starcraft brood war at least 10 hours a day from 2004 to 2007 and was fucking pro. don't regret 1 minute of the lost time.

We regret your loss of social skills though raideniza

Great post OP, I think it's great you dare to tell this, and how you want to battle the addiction
