Yeah, dedicated graphics on a laptop is the way to go.
And not that shared memory crap either. (I don't like the idea of my video card cutting into the RAM for its VRAM usage) You should be able to find some good deals. My personal recommendation (if you can find a good price) is dedicated card, 3 to 4GB RAM minimum, 7200 RPM Hard Drive (5400 RPM is probably fine for gaming though) and a good processor. The sound card I don't worry as much about, but I have an external audio interface. (course, I don't take the audio interface with me if we're going to a coffee shop or something, but the onboard sound is good enough) I ordered mine off Newegg last year, one of the older MSI gamer laptops (before they started to jack the prices up) runs everything just fine though. Even has a firewire port (mini plug though) I needed the firewire port for the interface though since the laptop doubles as my portable audio workstation hehe. |

Duno why people invest so much money in PC that will be outdated in 2-3 years anyway.
My pc costs only 250 USD. -ATI HD 5450 with 1024 DDR3 -Motherboard Asrock -CPU Intel dual core 2.9 Ghz. -3GB DDR2 RAM memory -HDD SATA I 7200 rpm 160 GB space -integrated sound card and net adapter. -sound via HDMI and plasma TV.also plasma TV as monitor. -wifi mouse and keyboard. Performaces in Regnum: - ~120 fps on Windows 7 with DX 11(shader 4.0 without terrain details but full others) - ~120-130 fps on Mandriva Linux(shader 4.0 shader 4.0 without terrain details but full others) - best perf ever ~ around 210 fps on Puppy Linux live USB stick.(shader 2.0) If i switch VGA cards ATI with my NVidia 9800 GT performance are lower with like 30-50 fps. Anyway after tons of tests in time i prefer ATI cards instead of NVidia. But one note at this quality of a VGA card depends also by vendors...EX: A ATI made by MSI will not have same quality as one ATI made by Dytona or Gigabite...all will have diferent performances.Worst that i had was ATI and NVidia made by Asus. Anyway i prefer to play on my MAC,my pc ,hosting some servers atm ![]() Last edited by HidraA; 05-12-2011 at 03:56 AM. |

I was able to run Crysis at medium settings on my old PC. Right now you really don't need a good PC, all PC games are ports anyway, and PS3 and especially xbox360 are crap. ;P

And by old I mean old :P Cheap new computers should run it very well.
Good graphics? Wait for the new console generation. -.-' Just the Witcher 2 might be good there, I heard maximum settings are very hardware hungry. Cheap computers are enough for any console game out there and there are very few PC games that are no console ports. (Like the witcher)

Has basically the same specs as my laptop and mine plays RO fine on Fixed Pipeline. Only If i up the graphics to shader model 3 or higher i get really bad FPS. I have no problem with the touch pad getting in the way either. Good luck!
