I don't. I never did. I never will. When you see me doing it ingame - feel free to call me a hypocrite.
Sure, it could save my life more then once, but for me it's just a proof of lack of skill. Someone treehugs - because he knows/feels that he can not win without it. I do not treehug and i expect the same from the person i'm fighting with. Nothing more, nothing less. Is it really so much to ask for? |

To me: "Treehugging" is a fully valid tactic if it's used in a certain way
- You get dizzyd/conf, simply run out some time of the fight - Recover some quick mana (or cd:s if your are grinding and a foe attacks you) - Anything really that you feel you need to recover from in order to fight back properly and not be a sitting duck (keyword = "fight back" ) But sadly, I have to agree with op, that there are really some perverted freaks and their trees out there in the RO world! They simply refuse to fight if they cant have you knocked/dizzyd during the whole fight.. NOTHING can make em leave that sad lil tree alone for even a sec. Then it's no longer a "tactic"... it's just sad :/ |

Archers-mages should not treehug(locks sometimes) and maybe not barbs too. But treehug is vital for a knight in open field.
Its simple: a knight cannot catch acas, so if he just runs behind ranged class he is just a noob knight. He will keep dying slowly... Against a ranged class the only hope for knight is to go to a tree and wait for enemy to do the mistake(almost all do this) to come close so he can kill him. When barb vs knight treehug is useless. I personally use treehug alot in open fields. Idc if they call me noob and stuff but thats the right. Face it.

If a marks is pelting me from 50 metres away and everytime i go and try to catch him he runs, freezes, knocks, distracting shot, gets another 50 metres, rinses and repeats I do the same and use environment to make him come to me instead of getting killed without landing one hit.
In a hunter vs hunter fight, if hunter uses a tree and tree hugs, the other hunter can just go to the tree and get him? I love when a hunter or marks i fight runs around for 10 mins then i use a rock or tree and he/she claps. Yes god forbid you need to use some skill and might even get hit once to kill a knight who can't get close to you.

So basically you are complaining that someone else wins using a tactic and you don't.
While I agree that treehugging has its problems (being ping-dependant, and cancelling spells that have already started casting), this argument is a cup o' lame. |
