Not voting on this because we're in a transition from an almost empty server where a realms entire population needs to focus on the same objective to a server with a high enough population to support different objectives. Ra's current state would give a better example of the state of Haven a few months from now than any amount of speculation based on the current state of Haven.

Imho instances should have never been implemented in Haven with the current population numbers or maybe only for lower levels as others said. Or maybe only once in a while. Idk. What I see is that since the last update wars in the wz are getting each day more and more rare. |

'standistorsion' has a point tho
there was hardly activity before TDM and all 'we' could do was complain that TDM wasnt working now that it is working we complain that there is no activity because of TDM I dunno if pvp instances should be hosted on a low populated server (maybe only for low lvls as scias suggested) than again, they'd have to make pve instances first.. (and I still hate log out/log in for instances.. i love my chats)

Before TDM there were at least several fort battles each evening. Now it's pathetic.

I think people are greatly over-exaggerating the state of Haven. I had some pretty awesome fort fights at Samal and Meni yesterday. Both Alsius and Ignis had quite a lot of players online.

Regnum has always been a war game so let us keep it that way. Instances should not replace the wz, the forts wars, the relic taking, the invasions. I see now many ppl logging off when they see that there is nothing to do in the wz. Not everybody likes TDM. Many hate it in fact. Most of us play this game because of the RvR aspect. TDM is not about RvR, TDM is imho more about PvP and especially suitable for barbs. |

Instances in theory is a god idea. However, as I have always said, NGD's implementation of generally good ideas sometimes leave me scratching my head.
Now I understand the motivation. Players complain that there is no end content after getting 60. So NGD went with the system of instances. Okay , that's fine. However, maximum level instances are for high population servers. Instances especially in lower populated servers (like Haven) should focus on generating content for mid level players to keep the interest up. In other words, like someone wrote above, to train and entertain players when they hit the abominable vacuum when they have to grind without entertaining quests to break up the monotony. Further to this, NGD said they were working on my level cap island. They never fulfilled the spirit of what I wrote. In such a case an instance would not work to entertain mid level players. An island in the persistent world which allowed any amount to enter and war (like the proper warzone) is what I envisioned. An 8x8x8 in a choked space is no replacement for the fun of a full blown war on a place like Momo island. Simple fix : No instance. Open Momo island to certain mid levels, all realms ( in the persistent world) and let them war there for control of the statues. Why would somebody make code and let it sit idle? Let the SGM control its availability. Dragons. Instance them all. Instance Daen Rha, Eve and Thorkul. Make portal openings forge a path by wish to these super bosses. Dragons are instanced so that any realm can get to any dragon. Make their availibilty contingent on activity in war and be one of the spoils of victory. Have lower level versions of the dragons for mid levels. These are also instanced. This way you can recycle bosses and not have to keep making more. Make invasions more compelling. Weaken the gates and (using Znurre's very old method) drive war to the cities which would be fortified. Randomise gems and place them in cities. Place chests in cities for invaders to sack. Give rewards for keeping the enemy at bay or stopping them . Invasions is the end game but it lacks any kind of imagination and meat on its bones. It is just a rehashed version of it's former self. Yes, the mechanics to invade are far superior. Rather, I should write that the foundation is far superior. The rewards on either side are not. They are not compelling, thrilling, balanced. NGD did not remove timers as I suggested eons ago, they hid it. That's not a fix, its a smoke screen to cover the implication that the devs may be short of ideas in that area. If you want end game, it is not in instances, it is in the persistent world. Rewards for fulfilling endgame objectives in the persistent world can be an instance as I outlined above. Open a thread, solicit ideas from the community (not like the suggestions box isn't overflowing already) and get something proper that is not tired and scripted for your end game. And finally, if a realm is getting invaded, players from the invaded realm should be kicked instantly from instances (and results of the match nullified) . The persistent world must always supersede any instance with the exception of mid level instances which are exempt. I must note that with the removal of RP, the allure of instances have fallen significantly. That was a good move by NGD. |

<ngd>
10 You must get bois in a skype, irc or dunno and make him talk for hours. Beer him, torture him... 20 Listen carefully and discuss. 30 Then implement what he says. 40 50 GOTO 10. </ngd>
