Cheating claims aside, the gem displayed on the map is updated every 30 secs I believe it is. Thus, that gem can be up to 30 secs closer than it appears on the map. That may have given the illusion that it was further away, & thus, this misunderstanding ... IF it IS a misunderstanding.
