LOL, any idiot can steal windows, adobe's CS3 suite, Nero and every game under the sun, but I do things LEGALLY.

Why would I ever want to buy a prebuilt box with a crippled mobo, out of date CPU, bottom of the line ram, an anemic PSU and loud as hell DVD burner that comes preloaded with tons of stuff I never wanted and have no real install media to boot!?

If I build a machine I pick a nice, not too exspensive mobo that has lots of built in overclocking options right there in the bios, a decent CPU that has good overclocking potential, a great after market cooler that keeps the overclocked CPU running cooler and quieter then it does at stock speed and stock cooling. I pick out good ram that has tight timings at high bandwidth settings to maximize preformance, I pick out a nice graphics card that gives me great video preformance in games at the resolution of the screen I'm using when I have all the settings capped at maximum and I pich out a nice high quality power supply to ensure that the machine does not fail me. Then pick out a nice looking case that has excelent airflow and get a few ultra quiet fans and get airflow through the case to be as efficient as possible without making too much noise.

Lastly, should I be installing windows, it's XP Pro, often 64 bit edition, I strip down the retail version of the OS to remove any extra cruft that isn't needed, I slipstream in all the updates while the machine is sandboxed offline after I've gotten all the updated dled and checked on my Mac or linux box, I also istall and setup all security apps at this time and install their updates, the machine is well hardened before it ever touches an ethernet cable.

Oh, lets not forget since I usally use a 500Gb HD in my machines that buntu is still installed on at least a 20Gb partition at the back of the drive and fully setup with drivers, updates, games and compiz/beryl for flash as the fall back to OS incase the XP install manages to be compromised. I teach my clients about both and I've had sevral that have picked up linux as a main OS. Only one client has requested Vista be installed, 2 months later they demanded that I install XP after they where too frusterated with it, I told them that I could not install XP without them first obtaining an XP license, we contacted Microsoft, they declined sevral attempts to obtain a "downgrade" to XP, I reminded them that they had linux installed, after a quick refresher on what it is and how it works they've been using it as their main OS as I inquired about it when they recently asked me about what laptop to get their daughter for school.

Wow, calm down there Duo, There are much more important things in life then computers , maybe you should expand your horizons some?

Its my job lol, I work at a small comp shop, I get to do pretty mch whatever I want, but I enjoy building gaming boxes for guys that are more serious about gaming, and helping ppl pick out software and OSs, the guy that own the shop pretty much let me do as I please so long as the customers are happy lol. Tht couppled with the fact that I don't sleep is why I always seem to be able to post on the forums, but at work I don't play regnm and since I'm taking classes I haven't had the time to play much recently...

It's not much to some, but getting paid to read hardware review sites is something you have to find coo in it's own right. The owner is an old tech that remembers working on comps usually more then twice my age lol, but he finds it hard to keep up these days with all the new stuff. He'd be more at home maintaining an old IBM UNIX mainframe then running anything any of us have ever played with.
