OK here is the deal...
You see in America right now, there is an economic meltdown occurring and in all honesty the Federal Reserve has not a clue how to fix this. Why? Because the economic problem that America faces is coming from multiple fronts: Soaring Energy Costs, Soaring Food Costs, the Housing Bubble Crash, Rising Unemployment, the Cost of Two Wars (Iraq and Afghanistan), and Key Nation-States who have either dropped the Dollar Peg or are diversifying their Currency Portfolio (namely going back to the gold standard): Such as Iran, Russia, China, Venezuela, Kuwait as well as other OPEC nations. .'. The rational, for the Republicans of the United States of America, for stemming this crisis is to get a hold of cheep energy resources... See America consumes 20.73 million barrels per day of oil... .'. Among the top ten OPEC nations that export oil to the US... Saudi Arabia, which is second only after Canada (and who is not in OPEC) for supplying oil to the US, exports ~12 million barrels per day total... Venezuela, which is the forth biggest supplier (after Mexico, who is not in OPEC) of oil to the US, exports ~9.6 million barrels per day total... Nigeria, which is the fifth biggest supplier of oil to the US, exports ~2 million barrels per day total... Iraq, which is the sixth biggest supplier of oil to the US, exports ~2 million barrels per day total... Angola, which is the seventh biggest supplier of oil to the US, exports ~1.8 million barrels per day total... Algeria, which is the eighth biggest supplier of oil to the US, exports ~1.8 million barrels per day total... And Kuwait, which is the tenth biggest supplier of oil to the US, exports ~3 million barrels per day total... However, it should be noted that Iran, a nation that does not sell oil to the US, exports 3.5 million barrels per day... .'. The problem with the figures above is that they don't tell how much oil per day these Nation-States export to US; so to put this all into perspective... Quote:
.'. See the problem with this is that the US does not have the sole right to all that lovely oil... 20.73 million barrels per day of oil the US needs to stay competitive in the world... 20.73 million barrels per day, for without its economy would come to a grinding halt! .'. Now if we factor in the downward pressure in the value of the dollar as Nation-States either abandoning it or move away from it... One sees that the value of oil goes up... Now we have 20.73 million barrels per day that is almost four times as expensive as it was in 2001... And when this happens basic economics of Capitalism states that every manufacturing industry, service industry or transportation industry must increase its costs to cover the increase in oil to be profitable... Hence the soaring energy costs, food costs, and rising unemployment rate (and all this caused the current housing bubble to burst, which also caused the credit crisis)... But this isn't only happen in the US, it is happening to all those nations that still hold on to the dollar as well... .'. It's strange, isn't that the world sits on the edge of a knife because people are not willing to see the long term problems of always seeking short term goals? But, the rational goes like this... If the US can push back Iran's military, nuclear infrastructure (by bombing the crap out of such infrastructures with nuclear bombs) for another 30 years... They would be able to gain the second largest untapped reserve of oil, Iraq, for themselves... No more would Iran able to train and weaponize insurgents to fight US troops in Iraq... It would also cause other unruly Nations in the region to fall in line with US expectations... Either play by our rules, or suffer as Iran did - so to speak... Talk about a short term solution, eh? But what of the long term repercussions... .'. In the republican eyes they matter not for no Nation can match the military might of the US... None would dare challenge the military might of the US! Or so they think... .'. However, what ever ill effects this would cause, the benefit is that with such a supply of oil that is the US' alone would allow the US not struggle... It would keep its competitive edge in the world... And it would also allow for all those energy costs, food costs, and rising unemployment rates to return to normal... .'. If you think this is all fiction, just look at what issues the US is concerned about when it comes to Venezuela, Nigeria, Iraq and Iran... As they say, "The proof is in the pudding child..."
