Thanks for your advice. I tried this one last week and was disappointed as it is clearly unfinished. Character creation is a mess and IMHO their game interface neither intuitive nor user-friendly.
I played a few years ago so-called solo computer-RPG games like Eye Of The Beholder, Baldur's Gate or (ahem... worse but terribly addicting) Diablo when I owned a Windows. Put aside graphical performances, computer games were/are still merely bad when it comes to 'true' roleplaying. So I no more expect great parts of it now in computer games. Nonetheless, I hoped that, years after, online mutiplayer RPG games could have enhanced this part and the answer is unfortunately and desperately negative. So I tried RO, expecting no more than these old other computer games and have been surprised with this /reset_powers command. I understand its purpose for RvR/PvP but it is totally out of place for a RPG. Since this second part is almost a shadow in the night, it does not really twist the game. So I will /reset_powers more often Edit: still looking for a 'true' online RPG while playing RO |

Try out Eternal Lands. Last I was on there was still a woefull lack of quests, but very strong roleplay community.... One of the few other MMO's with a Linux client.
Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with EL other than having several characters.

/reset_powers has saved my life in this game, since my style is apparently rather different from other peoples (I am incapable of using the Necromancy branch successfully, for example, but actually enjoy Staff Mastery). I do understand how it was not meant to be a feature, but you really cannot learn the game without it, otherwise it just becomes another game where you have to follow some guide to the letter or your character becomes hopelessly useless. In fact, this is one of the aspects of RO I like the most, it really gives you flexibility and the chance to really find your own style without starting over (can you say 'Last Chaos' ). |

i thought reset powers was in the game simply because some skills do not work/not balanced correctly, its beta, and would be removed from the "polished" and finished product.
im glad its there because it lets me test them and see if they work and how they work, if they are suitable for my style. i would have probably quit if i was "locked" into the original choices i had made to grind (my character would blow so hard i imagine, tons of mob killing skills and zero defense with my archer since i kited and put powers into armor debuffs (ss) and strong attacks, max ambush, snare with 2x ds rings and df maxxed, among other stuff (this was before update when ds with snare was range 30 + 30% dmg, regardless of the range penalty. bringing that sorta character into wz with that setup woulda been suicide. and i would have most likely have left RO. i would state however that after i have tested pretty much all of the skills for my class, id have no problem playing ro if they locked reset powers, so i would have a static setup. But then we have another problem, how would the newbies know what to choose? THATS why i think reset powers should STAY until ngd finds a way for players to correct their mistakes, and fix/modify skills that either dont work or are unbalanced.

Reset powers fit to this game. It should be triggered by a button in the trainer window instead of having to write it in the chatbox. This would also help newbies. I know ppl who about lvl20 realized there's something like /reset_powers and played without it and wondered why it's so hard to grind.

The animations are horrible, only half the races have models, the other half use models of other races. There is little variation in how people look, since there is only one set of heavy armor. A person wearing heavy armor looks just like someone else of the same race wearing heavy armor. Everybody uses short swords, and all short swords look identical. About the only thing the handful of players do is stand at the platinum mine and "/dig platinum" over and over and over. Development of Planeshift started more than 10 years ago, and is still in "pre-alpha test" stage, and it's going nowhere. The developers are all amateur volunteers, with no leadership or direction given from Talad, the developer that started the project. It's basically a buggy, stale 3D chat room, not worth wasting your time on. |

I can agree with that point, i do sometimes like different setups for different roles, defensive, offensive, support etc.
what i mean is that i would have no issues being "locked" into a certain role (after having thought over it fully and assuming all skills WORK) AS a level 50. i would probably cry if i couldnt change setups for grinding while i was lower leveled, as most grinding setups are garbage for warzone of course. i do believe either way that an option should be left open to change setups, whether it be by xim or gold, when they do finalize this game, because to error is human

Regnum needs features that most other free2play MMORPGs don't have.
PvP games need a simple way for reskill a character. Like in Guild Wars you can try different builds and play around with the skills. PvP MMORPGs without an ingame possibility to reskill the char are senseless. This is very important for Regnum and is one of my favorites features. Thats my humble opinion. |

Most players would have left RO long ago without reset_powers.
