Yes last night's fight was much better compared to older attempts. We still have much to go but I hope that would change soon. We're learning at every attempt just as much as you in Ignis did.
Now I hope Syrtis doesn't return to its apathetic ways. Keep trying Syrtis! We'll get there.

This is also more proof that a smart bunch of people on defense can beat back two to three times their number. More Syrtians need to realize this and actually SHOW UP at the gate instead of crying about late night Ignis zerg numbers.
I mean, there's logging off despite invasions because it's bedtime or something (which is perfectly fine), and there's just leaping to the conclusion that we're doomed and not even bothering to help defend at all. Some people just spam realm chat, switch to alts or keep grinding even when the gate is in danger. The irony is that maybe we wouldn't be so doomed if they added their numbers to the defense force. HELLO SYRTIS, CAN WE PLEASE STOP GETTING STUCK IN THIS VICIOUS CYCLE.

I still recall the only time Syrtis got into our realm (Ignis) while I was logged on, there were so many of you my PC could not keep up (I've since upgraded to a non-budget processor, so watch out next time ). There were enough so that when you split up to get the gems after getting through, each group still had more than we've ever been able to scrounge up to throw at a gate, so by my calculations that's around 90-100 Syrtians attacking our gate. And then, your forces.... dissipated? vanished? all went for some waccy baccy and cookies at once? I don't recall what happened next (Being killed before seeing anyone as the lone defender of a gem will cause trauma-induced amnesia) but I'm pretty certain you didn't open the portal, I think we got one gem back. Since then, I'm really not sure how you haven't managed to go see the shiny dragon yet (excepting you who went in the portal on that fated day where we actually managed to pull off a complete truce until the cheater defeated our combined attempts to stop them. Did I thank the noble Syrtians yet? Well thank you, anyway. You guys rock); I guess some über planning went into that attack.
I just wish people would be more civilised out here (just I know I'm guilty of being an arsehole on the forums too. I think I'm over it). – Arathael.

Aratheal, after that attack, Ignis went off and got one of Alsius' gems. That meant Syrtis had to attack both realms again, and when that attack failed, a huge number of people gave up on invasions. Syrtis managed to defend the (5?) gems we had at that time for over a week, while invasions of both Ignis and Syrtis failed. Eventually, Ignis made it and since then, even more people got frustrated and gave up.
Then we got another successful invasion of Ignis. It was a huge morale booster until we lost 1 gem after its carrier fell at the Ignis gate. Of course Ignis got the gem back later that night and that got a lot of people annoyed, frustrated and demoralized at the same time. Since then, it is very difficult to gather people for an invasion. Sometimes, more people show up to kill Vesper than to attempt an invasion. Even now, more people show up at Super Boss events than invasions. People won't bother to join because they think it will fail, and so it does fail eventually. Things are slowly changing though. We are getting fresher high levels who are more optimistic at war. Though we have much to learn in tactics and player skill, we are getting there. It will only be a matter of time before we open our portal.
