I don't know, actually i have now a long distance relationship even that i've never had one before (and i didn't believe on that)... and was pretty strange at the beggining, then just stopped because i had the chance to met him in person... so now is more real (to keep in mind: he's from Germany, and i'm from Chile so is a good distance )
Chances to find a couple is high, but chances to keep alive the relationship are low... not just for distance, also for lies and other things... but if you really trust in your partner is a chance to keep it alive.

Ok let me be serious here.
I think that playing MMO's with your partner from time to time (not more often than once per week) is very fine, it's like spending time together and playing at the same time. But no, no dating online, no digital relationship, what the fuck :P we're made of flesh, we need other flesh to love, not 0's and 1's. I know there's a person behind the player there, but it's NOT a relationship. It's more like Roleplay, which I despise.

So, I voted for the destiny option. I happen to have met my wife on IRC 12 years ago. We did the long distance relationship thing....communicated by IRC, email and phone and I think really knew each other before I took the plunge and bought an airline ticket to meet her in person. I'm living proof that online relationships can work out. As far as RO, we happily play it together after the kids have gone to bed.
So, could you find a real relationship in an MMO? Sure - if you're meant to find it, you will.

Honestly I didnt expect so many success stories. But still I hold my position (last option ) It seems, just like any relationships, there are many hurdles to overcome, only more here. Only very high levels of commitment can accomplish it.
And the majority opinion seems to be that relationships formed over an online game doesn't last and particularly not healthy. |

1) Do you think it is possible to find the 'right' one in Regnum? If you have exhausted all other social outlets and have low expectations/standards. It can't be controlled so it would be more like crushes or stalking if not reciprocated.
2) Do romantic relationships in regnum (or other mmorpgs) really last? get converted to long term relationships, marriage? IDK check http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cf...tionships.html for a list of things that people say have not worked out for them. 3) How would you rate chances of finding your match in a game vs actually goin out there and meeting people in real in social events? Depends on your level or standards, character and masochism. 4) Has it worked for many people? you or for people you know? Are the relationships just as healthy as conventional relationships? If it is just an in game thing it doesn't really have to be taken seriously by either of the parties and can be used as an emotional patch for what their real life partner is lacking (ie. using an online friend for a mental booty call when their real life partner only provides the physical stimulation.) It all depends on how you want to define the level of what you perceive as romance and what constitutes a healthy relationship in the eye of the beholder. I personally haven't met anyone that I know of that got together solely from am MMO. 5) Have you tried out any relations? How well did if fare? Nope. N/A. Married prior to playing the game. 6) For people who are already married, How does playing Regnum affect your personal life (enriches it if both partners play it, its a cheaper alternative to social outing, keep the stress of your relationship under check, increases stress, if only one partner play it how it affects the dynamics). Our spats of "I'm playing to much" or she is "playing Facebook too much;" helps to kind of keep ourselves in check when playing online so we don't become too attentive to a leisure hobby. We still communicate a lot, but there were some rocky periods where I played too much when invasions were instituted and she played too much when she found Farmville on Facebook. Pretty much though we are starting to get good at keeping ourselves busy in RL rather than playing the games.

Though I have to admit Ive met a lot of great people, who have been there fore me when I needed it most ^^ and I would have to say I love them for it. When words are all you have, they begin to have a certain meaning to them, one deeper then say, a relationship you would get if you met someone at say a bar. Note: This is how I see it in my eyes, clearly humor, and I know its not the same for everyone, Don't have a sense of humor? Please GTFO or look away....or... something Meeting: Out side world: They look at your body, your face, the clothes you wear, your apperance. And dont give me the "I look for personality" BS. You cant see who they are from their appearance. A girl with a fake tan, platinum blonde hair, COULD like the things you do, she COULD read books, she COULD be trying to grind her character to 50, but from her appearance you wouldn't know. I mean its unlikely but COULD happen. Regnum: You cannot see the person, but you can see how they act. You talk to them because they seem "cool" or w.e. and from there it starts, maybe on IRC or MSN you see a picture of that person, but by then, it shouldn't matter what they look like. Attraction: Out side world: Like I said usually you go for the attractive girls, while another girl with the best personality could be passing you by. Maybe some get wiser, and realize that yes she may have the best hind quarters you have ever seen, but things up there might not be what you want. Regnum: If you like them enough, you might start to spend more time with them, learning more and more about this person. Maybe even start to love who they are for them, not for what they look like. Sure Regnum is just a game. But the people playing it are real, and I think if you fall for someone then there is nothing wrong with it. Keep in mind I'm not talking about the preteen ZOMG I LUFF U ON DA FURST DAI thing, I'm talking about real talks, and a lot of time with this person. Maybe my views on it are silly, but I would like to think its a better way of seeing it. But I really have to thank RO (or maybe the Devs) Because I was really hoping this post would be more epic and manly, but as I type this the love of my life is distracting me over skype, I wouldn't have him in my life without RO, and I hope hes here to distract me till the end of time.
