would be interesting to know, what the spanish speaking community is thinking about this subject^^ another option could be, to make "pre-invasion" open source by any chance? it's the old engine, so no worries for ngd with their "new game". |

I, myself, am VERY guilty of this, but I think people are looking back with fond memories, but are forgetting what a pile of crap RO was pre 1.0
Don't get me wrong, the game was incredibly fun, you could play for hours without getting bored, the community was awesome etc. etc. BUT. The graphics were bad (though not a deal breaker,) the game was unbalanced (4k SC's anyone?) there were graphical faults, memory leaks.. Good god the memory leaks. Each update made the game literally FUBAR for a few hours, the game would be unplayable... But. People would shrug off these problems and enjoy the game anyway. So, a Pre-1.0 server is a nice idea, and I'm sure it would be fun... But I'm not sure people would want an EXACT replica. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea really. I have many, many, many fond memories from that time, but apart from it being very unfeasable for NGD, it would also fracture the community between ANOTHER server, which is something I'm sure none of us really want. Pre-1.0 was a very special time, but every dog has its day.

Question of taste. Old models looked better to me. All new lightning features? I have them turned off.

I agree with everything but this one. The game was unbalanced, but it has become way worse. Especially due to the new movement system, we still suffer from the changes made there. For sure, strafing and stuff is fun, but everything needs to be adjustet to this.

I think the game got better and better since when I started at least. The only thing I ever hated about the changes was the recently added new saves which totally ruined fort wars in my opinion. And also the ghost swings:P Other than that, everything else is nostalgia
Anyone remember when this game was all about who had more sultar's? God that was annoying:P Well now it jus changed to who has more wm's online^^ Though, another thing that's bad I think is the tele'ing around everywhere. I havn't seen a good bridge fight or even open area fight forever it seems.

It's more smart to have more alternative at your bussiness. If one go down other can keep you up. The issue is :if profit from such a server will cover costs. I will pay also moderate for such a server. Features as chat in wz and old spells balance from 1.0.7 can bring lots of fun for some ppl even they was not eye candy. About open source engine i am not agree at all. All open engines and games bring more troble also.Maybe some of ppl will fix issue but some of them will create troble also.Balance of make better and make more bad allways will be more ppl that will exploit something aroud. RO it's not so bigger game with tons of players to aford a open source game. This can make company to go down. Also RO can have two different dirrections: -Regnum Warmaster-->going ahead with this idea(invasions);(Horus) and -Regnum Basic that can go -->Regnum (crafting, questing, chat etc ppl can have more ideas)(Old style server)(maybe pay 5$ or 10$ /month) for such a server ...but repeat "maybe" it's a free to chose option. In the Past I searched on youtube for a native mmo, and eventually landet here. Graphic-wise it looked less demanding, so I tried it.. and <3 it. A never forgetable RvR-exp in my opinion. What are we having nowadays? In my case: A significant fps-drop (avg 32 vs avg 15), bulky looking chars, an RvR-game which favors the strongest rlm. (e.g meni 18 vs 46, taking half of them down doesn't matter, they simply teleport back with backup. "Unknowingly" frustrating the small rlm for their own fun) *sad face* Yes, if I had the option to chose between Regnum Online 1.0.7 and 1.7.5, I would abandon 1.7.5. NGD, I like the trade-channel, the ring-quests, the idea of daily kill-quests even, and your forts are looking nicely done (adorable details), but they require another playstyle, and favors due to their huge size marks and barbarians. (my taste: half lenght, half width, half height, shrink it ;-) ). 1.0.7 +trade-channel +ring-quests +ngd 2.0 in old-school-char-look (therefore lesser polygones, lesser demanding than even the old 1.0.7, which favors widely used intel gpus. And also: no miniskirt-mages anymore) That's how its supposed to be. :/ Eventually character-transfers to this new server (cooperate with game-samba, gamigo for that), not that lvling again would matter, but I think every Player has something in or on their chars which they can't abandon. Be it a costume, op-jewelry or presents from lost or absent players, it resembles a part of your ingame-history. Yes, I know it sounds naive and sentimental ;P Benefits of a Regnum Classic server: having done something for the community, possibility in gaining back old left-behind players, lesser gpu-demand, which could begin a "the best RvR-exp on even a netbook"-campaign, zero effort in backups (just implementing bugfixes and performance-optimizations) removing the uncertain, which eventually express in a higher income through xim.

I wouldn't want to play. People are acting like there will never be an update again. NGD will try and change the game to our liking. I've played this game for a long time, and there has been some tough roads. I enjoyed Beta a lot, even if the game wasn't completed, BUT I had a lot of fun. As much fun as a lot of people had pre-invasion. Still I wouldn't want the game to go back into the ol' beta days.
Some of you are losing so much faith in NGD, is it even worth playing their game anymore with such attitude? |

I wouldn't want to play in Alsius here, half the realm went to Raven because Horus became too hard for them.
You think it is so easy for us to invade now? This isn't like before when Warmasters were introduced. We would invade as we please. We have a lot of fail attempts trying to get those gems. If Ignis invades at A.M Hours that's their problem, staying up late. We get invaded during my morning sometimes, you don't see me here using it as an excuse. If you really don't want to get invaded, if it's bothering you that much. Simple, stay up... a few others stay up as well. Challenge the night crew, we aren't many. Oh wait? you have a life? Okay, than live with it. NGD will not remove US players from Horus, so this time zone imbalance will be here for ever. |
