Starting new server seems like quick buck, from my side. You launch server, a lot of people jump in to have their "new fresh start", spend a shitload of money to lvl up chars as quickly as possible (remember how was on Horus' beginning as well as for warmasters), and if server eventually doesnt populate enough, merge. Big deal, Ra is still there as a good income source.

Good luck with new server. I wish it ll be as big as Ra. By the way, you also have Horus, for which you said you had many interesting plans.

Advertisement for Horus or not, I think it's pretty obvious that beforehand the community has to improve their attitude for newcomers. Oh all the countless times I've seen mindless new players seeking help or (when they finally get to the WZ) suggesting this and that getting shot down by so called 'vets' (but not only), because by all means "I've been playing for XYZ years, so I know better". I have only witnessed this kind behavior on Horus, but correct me if I'm wrong.

OT: Congratulations.

I agree, the action on Horus has been very slow lately. And although I didn't see much point in making a North American server (because the biggest nations there speak English and Spanish, which were already accommodated by Ra and Horus), I do see a point in this one.
I can only speak for Ignis on Horus, since that's the only place I've played but the percentage of Portuguese speaking people leaving the game is extremely high there. And although some do leave the game because grinding takes way too long and it's boring as hell, most of them would like to keep playing but can't for a simple reason: They don't speak English! And since very few people there speak Portuguese, it's not a pleasant situation to be in. Even if they find a couple of people to talk with, we have to keep in mind that this is an MMORPG and that the community has an important role on keeping people coming back for more. I just can't imagine anyone coming back if they can only talk to two or three people in a Massively Multiplayer Online game.
I understand your doubts, but allow me to give you some facts. Polish language, it's a 45 million people market. Italian language, it's a 65 million people market. Portuguese, it's a 200 million people market! It's the 7th most spoken language in the world. And if the data they have suggests that there's demand in this market for their product, but due to its social and educational characteristics it needs a separate infrastructure to be able to flourish, why not?
Besides, the Polish and Italian communities in the game have been doing a great job of accommodating its players in clans. The Portuguese community hasn't, which makes the task of trying to keep new players around even harder.
My only doubt is how are they gonna manage to get an initial injection of players in it, for the server to gain some traction. I'm not sure how's the situation on Ra but I do remember reading some reports of overpopulation and problems with lag. Perhaps vent it a little and give its Portuguese speaking players the option to transfer?
On Horus, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Even if some make the decision to move, as far as I know, we're not enough to have a significant impact. And I believe Horus will still receive some Portuguese speaking players. I mean, if you already know basic English, this is a great way to develop it and speak with native and near native English speakers!

Yes I do agree but sadly Horus is in such a state that every single player counts, Ok, There are few portugeese players in Horus if they leave it won't really have a big impact on the server but Portugeese players leaving Horus isn't the thing that concerns me, Its NGD's new-server behaviour, in the last year only they started 4 new servers (Dutch,Tyr (this one failed and merged with Horus again after 3 months or so),French,Nemon North-American,Raven and now Brasil,Piranha) I mean Cmon Nemon stole ALOT of players Raven stole ALOT of players NGD should simply slow down with opening new servers all the time and REALLY start focusing on Horus they told us they were having some nice plans for Horus and that they would make some exclusive advertisement for Horus ONLY well the only change I saw so far is Horus going from a English server to a English In'tl server...

I agree there's a big market out there for Portuguese speakers, especially Brazilian players, but my concern is regarding what will happen to Horus.

I have no doubts this server will work if advertised correctly, but I think the impact on Horus will be bigger than what people think. I know a lot of Brazilian and Portuguese players in Horus, especially in Alsius and Syrtis(can't speak for Ignis, I have no idea), and most have trouble with the English, so, even though it makes sense to create a Portuguese speaking server, it'll only add even more to the current situation in Horus.
The server is dying, and this will only contribute to that problem.

So, although I have nothing against this new server, I'm really concerned about the current state of Horus, and I just wonder, what next? Maybe an Italian server?...And what happened to the advertising of Horus that NGD promised us? All this creation of new servers just keeps on adding to the underpopulation of the server, and nothing's done about that.

I'm not ready to give up on Horus just yet, and I will not be joining Piranha, but I wish you good luck on that, hope it works out.

Well, actually I think is unfair that the server is only for the Portuguese language is very similar to Spanish and many people I'm sure you can not play in RA and are willing to invest in our characters once more.
Also how good is the market in Brazil clarified that as the French and the server is initiated raven older players with more experience in the game, so only Portuguese-speaking puden have much publicity but to be a server and actiivo not die like the Netherlands need to be international in character first,
that is Brazil but from other countries can enter style raven

After carefully watching most of the new players on Raven, I totally agree on this one now. The server is starting to feel less American than I actually expected. I was hoping that other players who spoke the language very well or new players who saw advertisements for Realms Online would be able to start to play but instead we get Vaniteuses. (Save camping is banable on Raven)
It's not about being racist or anything, but most of these "new" players can't even answer or understand most of the things you say, this just destroys communication and it's actually an important part of a region specific server. What's the point of advertising it as a North American server if most of the players you meet don't even speak the language?

So, I am actually happy that Piranha will only be open for Portugal and Brazil, I really do not want those kind of players causing trouble. Sorry for the ones who aren't troublish.

Well, i think Piranha server dont need even much advertising, But it sure need the Right advertising.

One good public is linux users in Brasil, specially the few centers that really studied linux in Brasil. I know that University of Paraná has a repo of Opensuse, there maybe a good start. Recently Canonical made an Office at São Paulo.

I know 2 great sites from downloads in Brasil, and one Baixaki of than makes a very bad description of Regnum, basically cos of the previous confusing translation to portuguese. Maybe a great step on advertising is to talk with ppl responsible for this sites and give them a good impression of the game. Other one is www.superdownloads.com.br.

Sad is how some media sites thread Regnum Online.I know there are balance and gameplay issues but wee can admit is the best native game for Linux atm even for Mac OS X.
Some games are threated by people(media sites) bias based.Had this troble with my Youtube Videos for Mac OS X gameplay...comments like "xxx game is best" are stupid and non-sense in some cases.A person that never try something keep say oh "mine is best" si damn stupid.Disabled comments because avoid this kind of infinite "mine is better".

Main impresion is made by beginners zone. And regnum real gameplay begins in War Zone and RvR situations.
I will keep my old idea:
Initiation zone need more info, and new imcomers need to feel like they are allrady in action.
-A Chapters gameplay will be very cool:
-Chpater 1 Initiation on art of war (from lvl 1 to lvl 10)
-Chapter 2 Road to a great warrior (from lvl 10 to 50)
-Chapter 3 War zone(at lvl 30 or 40)
-Chapter 4 Become a master of war-Warmasters (from lvl 50 to 60)
And at end of each chapter to be played a short presentation video in splash screen.

A short video that presents the games need to be add at begin right after a person creatent his character and loged in game. That video must contain short presentatnion as (road to chose your class->become stronger->go in war zone fight in PvP and great battles)...this will make a persone to understand in a few seconds whats going on on this game.

Help menu need a revamp and need to be in Icons and images style too.
And spels in help menu need to have presentation in gif style or images.

A revamp of initiation infos and more eyecandy will make the game more enjoyable for new incomers .At highter lvl and warzone its not a must because you are allrady in action.
But a story line at low lvl-s will make more curios new ppl.Atm is too empty and story line gave you the feeling of empty place.
