not a big fan of jumping and falling damage. i think it is a mild amount of bullshit that you get a large amount of damage for running down a moderately sized hill.

+1, for the past 3 years I have been playing this game people have always been saying that RO is getting worse and worse.. back then I know like 90% of all players were like: The fact that you can't jump is awful, they should implent it soon. Now that NGD did so, everybody is complaining? This is a gaming community, some are gratful for what they get. But others on the other hand...
Anyway, even if RO ever gets the best Balanced game award ever. Still then people will keep complaining, this is the key of the Gaming Community. That's just who we are.

In a poll posted a while back 2 out of 3 respondants said they would rather play the older versions of the game than the current one, before it was locked for players expressing forbidden opinions. That in itself should tell NGD they are on the wrong track.
Instead of catering to a vocal minority in the forums and changing the game to appease them, NGD should look at what the game was like when it had a more active player base and was actually more balanced than it is today.
Also NGD needs to stop worrying about adding "pretty" forts or castles and work on the bugs everyone here has been complaining about forever.
All the "pretty" graphics in the world won't make up for unbalanced and annoying gameplay.
Also don't lock threads arbitrairily, If no rules are broken, leave them up, even if some might find the opinions of others threatening to the status quo.

I've heard little about this update from a close friend of mine who I played with on this game. I only know about jumping, and how taking shortcuts through roads is no longer allowed. The jumping thing to me sounds like a rip off WOW, which only took me 5 minutes to realize that game isn't my taste. Honestly, I think RO was unique at one point. Now NGD is just turning it into what every other game is. I haven't played since the level 60 update so I really can't say anymore until I check this stuff out. But sounds ghoulish to me.

i agree with you completely. Jumping seems very very reminiscent of WoW, of which i am not a fan. while the concept of jumping in a game seems a basic pseudo-necessity, it serves no purpose in regnum, and only causes convolution in environment-based hazards and damage because of the damaged caused by falling.

This falling damage also appears to be amplified while riding a mount. one can incur a fairly large amount of damage just by riding down a small mound which is nonsensical at best. in my opinion, jumping and falling damage was a sad excuse for a gimmick and only subtracts from a game that was a one point a unique gem of a game.

After playing, I realized how deeply disturbing and diabolical this update really is. I'm sure enough people have already bitched and moaned. But seriously, NGD are the only ones sadistic enough to say "Hey, you know what? No more shortcuts for you." and add fall damage to this jumping mechanism. Probably one of the worst things they've done since "Battle Fatigue". (Which was removed, thankfully.) Totally careless developing.

hahah, i suppose that is a pessimistic way of looking at things, but not one to be ignored, i suppose. this thought has crossed my mind in one form or another but i figured that, questionable development skills included, NGD wouldn't blatantly digitally "bitchslap" their player-base for no discernible reason.

I still have no problem with the concept of falling damage. So far I have adjusted and remain relatively unaffected by it. Jump is not for me so I simply left the jump bind key unassigned.

NGD entered into an arrangement with Game Samba. This is in the heart of the North American market. We don't know what the arrangement is (and it is none of our business anyway) but what we do know is that NGD needs to make this work to actually yield any revenue out of it.

The effect is that Raven will now be the driving force for many decisions. Horus and even RA is now depreciated in favour of Raven. It is just pure economics. If poor (as we may chose to see it ) decisions are made, tell yourself that NGD has to pander to this North American demographic and please them. They will have to do this until they get enough market penetration ,appease Game Samba and service whatever contractual obligations they have. We will get 'hand me downs ' from these innovations.
As such, expect other 'features' that are prevalent in games in that market to show up here. I fully expected it and was not disappointed.

All I will say is that the community should thank their lucky stars that NGD did not hook up with a major publisher in South Korea.

I died a few times fall from wall with warlock tryng to avoid a barb that was um-ed and coming to me..i was damn nervous ,loged out for 4-5 days till calmed down
Situation was sucks and weird..casted ambitious sacrifice 5,my HP went down, fall from wall took me 2050 HP and died ...5% free necro,stupid and weird...my total HP is 2550.
The main issue is sometimes i forget to not go on fort walls,in other situations was not so bad...wtv...
About jump key here also ,unassigned...uselles

Now is sample for me ..i try by far to avoid fort wars,plain and bridge fights are ok....
