America is the whole continent, but can you imagine saying "United states of America" every time you wanted to talk about the country? America is just accepted as the short for it in english. Its like if we called Macedonia by its full name (Former yugoslav Republic of Macedonia ).

Well Macedonia is a geographical region. Part of the region is in territory of Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Albania.
Most of it's territory was in the Bulgaria territory in middle ages and they speak same language as our people. I perfectly good can communicate with macedonian people. Sadly politics there try to rewrite history and wash people's minds. They even try to bring conflict between people which is sad.

In Spanish we say "estadounidense", which clearly refers to someone from United States, instead of "americano".
On the other hand, in english it'd be weird as hell to say: "I have an unitedstateofamericanian friend", which is why it's widely accepted to just say "I have an american friend". Bye :P |

Just kidding. You guys need to stop argueing about nationalities. You'll find bad people in every country regardless of where they were born.

Every country is the greatest in its own unique way as it should be. Were it not so , things would be quite dull indeed.
All countries have good and bad, best and worst. The difference between countries lies in the proportion of these equally opposite yet complimentary factors. What I do think makes any country perceptibly and conceptually bad are politicians, lawyers and bankers. I did not add religion because that can go either way. What entrenches it is the tolerance level of the general citizenry to the shenanigans of those same politicians, lawyers, bankers. The USA has its good points and bad points like any other country. There is no greatest country but rather the most dominant country by influence and control. |
