Seriously though, Rap does NOT take a lot of talent, a rhytmical sense and then you can speak out your "poem" but it just defeats the purpose of music, music is about the music, not the lyrics, if the lyrics are good it's a bonus

I actually listen to some rap, but it's a danish group called odense assholes (odense is a city in our country) and they are pretty funny, I'll quote

"woman, you can not drive a car x4 Fuck to the backseat and do what you're best at" In danish it rhymes
"All those who dances are gay, GAYS BLEED PINK" another rofl

I saw them live first time I heard them, and when the gay dancing line came i made some weird dance

First when i say old school rap I mean the fact that before rap was not only based on basically 4 things sex, money, drugs, and killing.

Ok so I was on alsius chat or sitting there dying repeatedly at aggers

and Im not gonna give the whole story so basically a debate happened about how apparently all rap is crap. I highly disagree and believe that new rap is crap and old school rap had a meaning. I will support my opinion with songs and quotes from the rappers.

But several people kept making fun of rap and wouldnt listen to the songs that I provided that backed up what I believe. Brotherbrian especially who said something along the lines of who cares about why they made it or the message its rap its crap. Klutu said its for people who have no talent.

And the mistake I made that Im sure he will mention was saying irrogance instead of ignorance. He said its cause of rap I believe its because its 3:40am here and Im tired.

But basically I challenge anyone on RO who believes the crap that BB does about what I consider old school rap to be is crap to listen to these songs and still say that.

Unless you are gonna provide evidence as to why what I consider old school rap is still crap AFTER listening to these songs than please dont post. Also please dont try and say 'o those songs are racist. all they do is promote racism. half of that stuff isnt true' unless yet again you are gonna provide evidence and at least know what you are talking about

Come on, really? The whole topic is kind of relative. I mean, Kurtis Blow is pretty much as old-school as it gets, yet I don't consider it so, simply because it was before my time. What Sicker thinks is old-school may not be what you consider old-school, but it doesn't make his opinion any less valid than yours.

And AWD, there are talentless "artists" in every genre of music. It doesn't invalidate hip-hop as a whole simply because most of the popular artists are garbage.

On Topic:
I generally consider non-gangsta late 80's stuff as "old-school" as it was the first non-metal music I began listening to. My favorites would mostly be:

Leaders of the New School, from which Busta Rhymes springboarded his solo career

The Freestyle Fellowship, be warned, this one may be offensive to some

Aceyalone, an incredible freestyle artist from The Freestyle Fellowship

Kool Kieth, this time as Dr. Octagon

I also listened to a lot of NWA, Warren G, Biggie, Tribe called Quest, and Digital Underground. If you guys dig on hip-hop, you should also check out the Anticon label. The have some really amazing stuff from artists like Sole
