Not only a slashdotting would put the servers down, but it would also be bad for Regnum. It would be a missed opportunity because the first impression matters a lot.

I came to Regnum expecting the gameplay quality of a flash game and because I was extremely bored with the lack of fun games running under GNU/Linux, so I was pleasantly surprised. However, if I had been expecting a MMO, I would have left right then.

Even if it does look better now (well, mainly the launcher), I think Regnum needs to be a lot more polished before it can benefit being advertised on a site such as Slashdot. Anyway I doubt they would run the story.

As for the petition, as you said, 10k is nothing, any Mac website will have that quota reached in a matter of weeks.

not being slashdotted ever will always be missing an opportunity. We have always been shy of showing off the game... i feel confident about the state of the game as it is now.

Also, I dont believe that Regnum's first impression will improve that much in the following months. Our focus is moving now to overall performance and the end game (invasions / balance / etc) right now.

Dont be disappointed, there are a LOT of mac users out there, and Im sure that many of them are gamers, add to that that there really isn't that much offer on Mac (Okey, one little MMORPG called WOW ).

Well call me stupid, but if I was on the MMORPG market and I had the opportunity to be the only competitor to WoW on the Mac user market share, I'd be porting the client asap. Being that many of the existing Windows/Linux users are here because they are looking for a free alternative to WoW anyway, if you guys are the ONLY other option there, I'm pretty sure you'd earn your porting cost back really soon.

But that's just me

EDIT: I forgot to mention, a big part of the userbase is here because this game offers a native linux client. I'm pretty sure if there was a native Mac client, regardless of the market status concerning MMORPG's, you'd have some success there anyway, just as with the PC market where there's tons of MMO's out there, but only few with a native linux client
