Hi, I've just created a new account on RO after being away for a few months. I think this wiki will be great so I'd like to help out wherever I can.
I've done the links on NPC names and started adding characters from Ignis. I agree we need to sort out templates for the NPCs, items, skills etc. so I'd be happy to help with that. Maybe it would be better to do the discussions on the wiki itself. One other thing I noticed from browsing the wiki: there's an inconsistency in the casing of article titles. Some use 'Sentence case', eg "System requirements", and others use 'Title Case', eg "Game Overview". This is a small thing but really needs to be worked out from the beginning because otherwise it can be a pain when creating links. Wikipedia uses sentence case for almost all article titles because it's what works best with the software, so it's what I'd recommend. |

Wikipedia uses sentence case ("System requirements") -- this might be the best way to go.

Get a style guide. That would help you stabilize your writing efficiency. Not that you have a problem with it, but I'm just saying.

I like Sentence Case better, looks prettier
Besides, the names of most pages kinda have to be like that, a big majority of the page is gonna be names of NPC's and spells which are given in the Sentence Case format.

Um, I think you mean Title Case Sentence case is just capitalizing the first letter, as you would do for a normal sentence; Title Case is Where You Capitalize All the Main Words.
I agree that Title Case looks prettier though. The articles for proper nouns, ie the names of places, races and people, naturally should in title case, since that's how you would normally write them. I don't think there's a problem there. With the skills/spells in AFAICT they are actually in sentence case in the game (eg Arcane missile, Energy barrier, Fire ball). So normally I'd argue that in the wiki titles should match how it's written in the game, but the problem comes with weapons/armor/items: in the game the casing for these is all over the place (there is: "Short Sword", "Short rapier", "Fur leggings", "Initiation Tunic"). So I don't think we can try to match them. It might seem anal to be worrying about this, but as Gideon_Slack mentioned above, two titles with different casing are two different articles. (Because for some unknown reason the creators of MediaWiki decided to make them case sensitive.) The annoyance comes when you're writing an article and create a link like [[Ambitious Sacrifice]], and then find that it's a red link because you should have typed [[Ambitious sacrifice]], or vice versa, so you have to go back and change it. The software lends itself towards sentence case, but it doesn't really matter too much what rules are applied, as long as you end up knowing what to expect. tl/dr: I'd go for Title Case for articles on people, creatures, places & races, sentence case for everything else. I thought I'd be bold and start a template for the NPC data: location, profession etc. The idea is that it can show the full information on the NPC's own article page, and also display some info on the NPC List, whilst keeping only one copy of the raw data.
I've created a couple of stubs to demonstrate: Adilan & Aixa, and changed the code for them in the NPC List I guess, if wanted, I could bot-create stubs for all the NPCs. |

So what is our decision on case?
My vote is for sentence case ("System requirements") for all pages. I started a style guide for the wiki, that we can link to on the front page when we reach a decision.

I think there should be a section with quests on the NPC template, and clicking on the quest takes you ofc to the quest page. That is, if the NPC has any quest connections at all.
NPC's can either a) start quests or b) be involved in quests (Talk to XXX, Give item to YYY etc). That needs to be taken into consideration in the NPC template. I'm not really fond of the way the list is when you add profession and location next to their names :/
