AwD only because you don't like rap that doesn't mean there aren't any talented people.

I hate metal and rock, so I could say there aren't any talents, but I know that there are even if I want to rip my ears off when I hear sounds of guitars and growling.

Knowing your enemy imho gives you right to say there is no talent. When you don't know shit about what you're talking about, don't talk at all. Thanks.

something I tried to tell BB and klutu. he said he grew up in a poor area. Maybe a poor area for the areas surrounding it. but not in a ghetto kind of poor judging from his comments.

old school is a term defined with a certain time period, specifically with the appearance of run dmc old school ends.

pizd no I don't like rap, and it does not take that whole lot of skill to create, I'm a musician and I know what I'm talking about, here I come said it too, rap is more about the lyrics.

sure you can hate it if you like that's your opinion

and I do know what I'm talking about, tried freestyling against someone who makes this kind of music and lives in it, was told I did good for someone who never tried it before, and this was before I became aware of my musical abilities.

ingredients for rap:
beat
meaningful lyrics

a beat usually doesn't contain any hard or complex tones that you have to play, today they are done and played on a computer don't know the balance of crap vs rap today but it'll determine the amount of more talentless shit out there.

the meaningful lyrics is where the core comes in and where you'll see the skill of the musician or poet as he/she really is.

then you talk in a rhythm to the beat, that's what it basically is, talking in a rhytm, where you remember to have some communication in the tonal thing in your voice when doing so (I don't know the word for it).
But I can explain it with an example, you could say a sentence in a happy or an angry way and the sentence would mean two completely different things but the words are the same.

I could go on and on as music is a big interest of me, but don't say that I know shit of what I'm talking about, you could just disagree with me which is what it really says.

I talked a bit about it with here I come in game, we have different tastes in music, but I don't think here I come is an ass, I actually like him.

You being an amateur "musician" with no music school, knowledge of theory or experience, I hardly consider you as an expert or authority in this matter, therefore I don't consider your opinion "does not take that whole lot of skill to create" plausible.

Same with rock and metal imho requires mindless repetetive punching the guitar and growling into the mic.

I bet it is an interest of yours, but only an interest not your job where you earn enough for a living, so really I don't think you are right. Therefore, I disagree with you!

It's a thread for people who like HH/rap and share, so please...

Actually I am gettin' taught and that really IS what is happening seen from an objective point of view

you don't punch the guitar you punch the drums you shred the guitar .
From an objective point of view metal is actually the hardest genre for a vocalist, why? Because it's the only genre that will include all kind of vocal techniques and the growling technique.
Being a drummer is also quite hard, specially in the progressive genre, even more in the progressive death genre where you need speed AND multitasking skills

interest, hobby and something I spend a lot of time on in my sparetime, as said before I'm going to play live, you have not heard me perform or anything else in that matter so you cannot really say anything about how much or how much I don't know.

There is also a last thing to note about my replies, where do I say that rap is not "valid" where do I say that rap should "go" or that you should not listen to rap? That's not what is happening, find a place where I tell you not to listen to rap, or where I say people should not listen to it. I don't, I'm just saying something about how it's made and that it doesn't take much. RAP is an abbreviation for rhythm and poetry, speaking out your poem in a rhytmic sense, maybe in a theatrical way, I like to see it like that

BS ;P try to think about opera songs going immediately from bass to soprano and beatboxing... or try to be Bjork and sing totally different? Look, you're defending your precious metal like I am defending rap. Can't you understand we're both from different worlds and forfeit/agree that rap can actually be quite hard and involve talent?

I don't think it has anything to do with what we're talking about.

I know enough, and you're quite too inexperienced and little known to be considered as a professional.

As I said before, let's not go offtopic and focus on rap / hip hop. You're going way too far with your philosophy and I believe people here would prefer some valuable suggestions about old school and new school rap, discussions about styles and seeing some new stuff too.

Ontopic to the guys:

What are your thoughts on french Iron Sy? I quite liked its track for District B13.

Interesting things from Poland - Peja, who lately encouraged people during the concert to beat up a guy who pointed middle fingers towards him. Big, big fuss in media http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLiMpGBe0oc

This is one of best songs to illustrate how Poland looks like from the streets view - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL3AWtBEgRY brings back memories

Next, a man who's a part of classic polish hip hop group, Kaliber 44, with some tragic history with some mental problems and accidental suicide involved.. well, a man from this group, Abradab has made a few not-serious rap tracks which made they way to polish culture and are considered as EPIC! \o/ even people who don't like rap or even hate, can quote the songs on every party.

First one would be Jedziemy po ziolo <- it means "we're going to get weed" (there is no actual vid so fans made one out of movies) The whole point is that it's made absolutely without skill and sounds like they were all low on int (specially the chick)

And second which you may recognise the theme from my Rock vid, Rapowe ziarno <- Seed of Rap (AWESOME video btw)

But seriously - this is the legend of polish HH - (maybe polish oldschool since we got to that kind of music only after breaking communism after '89) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkMBOAtboN8

I also met very unusual Filastine, very specific way to create music, also with rap involved (but sometimes only).
