Well, in my experience, events were usually special things initiated by staff members of the game. They could be mini-games or contests or some such initiated by one of NGD's own staff members/moderators or whatever. As to what kind of contests are possible, that's anybody's guess. They usually aren't very common though, usually done on holidays, or other days of importance, like the game's anniversary, or maybe a national holiday, stuff like that. Sometimes events have their own themes to them, like halloween or valentines or whatever.
Edit: one example of an event could be something like a scavenger hunt. NGD hides items throughout the inner realm/beginner island/warzone areas, and whoever manages to find them all within the event's time frame would earn a reward. It could also be made into a race, so 1st place gets the best reward, then #2 gets something not quite so good, and so on so forth. |

why would anyone sell their old items? I find that kinda stupid. Gold comes practically free in this game, and judging by the amount of grinding you did to get all these new items, you shouldn't have a problem with gold...
Vaylos, thanks for your input, I can only hope they are NOT quests. I don't like the events being on certain times/dates. I don't want to feel left out because I wasnt playing RO on some day and missed out on these new items...

jee, 20kg? so that you can carry 20kg more loot while grinding? For that, you sold *unique* game items? Not to mention that they might still be helpful for other players? I don't want to sound too harsh, and I don't want to call you stupid, or DMC, you both have proved to be very good players, but jeez, that was stupid.

Regardless, it was an oops by NGD and some players:
1. NGD re-nigging on items looted 2. Players selling unique in-game stuff because of better looted stuff... NGD has already stated they would fix the issue. I can say; however, that I will never sell anything again outside of stupid teeth or fur - give that this is twice this type of problem has occurred with items "not mean for general consumption".

I've always kept and eventually gave away all my unique rings, simply cause a lower lvl could double up on the rings until they found better. I usually kept a stash of magic armor laying around, and after I got a nice pile going i'd head to initiation island and hand things out to people in Ilreah. That's about the only thing I enjoyed with my conju :P
